I've always preferred Roger Moore in the role, although I'll admit to being impressed by Pierce Brosnan.
Least favourite in the role was Timothy Dalton. They weren't in the spirit of Bond movies for me, and I was glad to see the back of him.

Baldy, the Dalton movies were as close to the Novels as you will ever get for authenticity and a portrayal of how Fleming saw his creation. Dalton wasn't my favourite Bond by a long chalk, but his two stabs at the role, particularly the brilliant, Licenced to Kill, deserve credit given to his portrayal.
Brosnan is the finest and definitive Bond IMHO, Connery second, Dalton third and Moore fourth, despite the fact Moore still gave a fine portrayal of the role.
The Lazenby film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service is arguably, the best film as a one off IMHI, but you cannot judge the lead because of the unfair slating he recieved and because it was the only chance he got in the role.
The lack of respect from the media and fandom, so far afforded to Daniel Craig, is to me disgraceful, before the film is even released. I thought he was great in Layer Cake and he definitley looks the part!! I will happily predict that a lot of the premature critics will eat their words after Casion Royale hits the screens in November.

Aye - have to agree "On her majestys secret service" was def the best bond film, never been able to understand why Lazenby was rediculed so much, like Chuckle said, had he made more than one film and grown into the role who knows.....
Connery was the best, but TBH all the bonds have their place, altho the Moore films with fookin Jaws were a bit cringingly embarrassing and cheesy - still good Sunday afternoon viewing tho...tup:
