After taking moviegoers magically into the realm of toys, bugs, monsters, fish, and superheroes, the masterful storytellers and technical wizards at Pixar Animation Studios ("The Incredibles," "Finding Nemo," "Monsters, Inc."), and Academy AwardŽ-winning director John Lasseter ("Toy Story," "Toy Story 2," "A Bug's Life"), hit the road with a fast-paced comedy adventure set inside the world of cars.

Lightning McQueen (voice of OWEN WILSON), a hotshot rookie racecar driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs.

On route across the country to the big Piston Cup Championship in California to compete against two seasoned pros, McQueen gets to know the town's offbeat characters -including Sally (a snazzy 2002 Porsche voiced by BONNIE HUNT), Doc Hudson (a 1951 Hudson Hornet with a mysterious past, voiced by PAUL NEWMAN), and Mater (a rusty but trusty tow truck voiced by LARRY THE CABLE GUY) - who help him realize that there are more important things than trophies, fame and sponsorship.
The all-star vocal cast also includes free-wheeling performances by racing legend Richard Petty and Cheech Marin. Fuelled with plenty of humour, action, heartfelt drama, and amazing new technical feats, CARS is a high octane delight for moviegoers of all ages.

Strange one this. The lad and his cousin who were 'right' looking forward to it thought it was so-so, my two teenage daughters who don't like cars, racing, sport and stuff really enjoyed it. As animated kids films go I thought it was alright misen.

'He did WHAAAAAT in a cup?' (a corny one liner for the adults that had me sniggering)

A family collective 7 out of 10.

'Not seen it'... 'looks pretty crap!'

I know what you're saying Joe. I was the same with, The Godfather, Jungle Book, The Great Escape, Manhattan, The 39 Steps, Pinocchio, Apocalypse Now, ET, Lawrence of Arabia, Goodfellas, Poltergeist, French Connection...

lol....."the 39 steps" - a great film, as are most early hitchcocks "pre-hollywood" films....

Got em all on a DVD collection i bought on ebay - some reet viewing, from "Rebecca" to "dial M for Murder" and from "the lady vanishes" to "jamaica inn" - best set of anything i've ever bought....

Have to say though my actual fave Hitchcock film is one of his blockbusters - the fantastic "north by northwest"....tup:

WTF all this has got to do with a Pixar film i don't know....

It was alright. Kept us both entertained for a couple of hours, but I don't think it's in the top league of animated movies. My all time favourite animated ones are Shrek and Toy Story, and it wasn't a patch on those.

If you've seen Doc Hollywood with Michael J Fox in it then you've basically seen the plot.

I'd give it 7/10. Worth it if you need something for the kids to see, but I wouldn't have bothered if I wasn't taking my daughter.

Just found out today that Jeremy Clarkson does one of the voices in it - he's Harv, the agent.
