View Full Version : My thoughts..

Here are my thoughts for what they might be worth:

Donovan Ricketts

Looked OK, made a few routine stops that he made look difficult (ask any goalkeeper he could of caught those two he pushed over the bar in the second half) he made a brilliant one-on-one save though, really needs to work on his kicking one minute he looks like he could beat the opposition goalkeeper next minute you cringe and hope he won't hit his own corner flag.

Richard Edghill

Not sure what to make of him just yet? He does somethings very well yet can't find his man half the time with a simple six yard pass. Good last ditch clearance in the first half though.

Mark Bower

Still looks a little shaky, does the guy have no confidence? Each time he got skinned his inital reaction was to pull the player back first then try to catch him. Played better in the second half when Wether's went off though.

David Wetherall

You know what you are going to get from him week in week out.

Ben Parker

Played pretty well, made a few mistakes but for an 18 year old he's pretty decent linked up well with Holmes.

Jermaine Johnson

Bloody hell he can run, but when the ball isn't played to his feet 90% of the time he wasn't intrested in coming to collect the ball but loved chasing it whenever whacked infront of him.

Steven Schumacher

Looks like he's got his confidence back, kept trying to jump in at times when he'd of been better staying on his feet but much better than anything he produced last season.

Marc Bridge Wilkinson

I think this guy has tremendous talent but he's also our weak link in midfield, he misjudges challenges, and the ball always seems to fly past him. He's brilliant moving forwards though and brings the attack and midfield together brilliantly. Needs to work on his defending a bit.

Lee Holmes

This guy deserved every clap he got and more and was in my opinion man of the match he never stopped running and always wanted the ball. He turned defence into attack so often it was a pleasure to watch him, everytime we got a corner that he'd take he'd get a standing ovation when he came over o take it from the sunwin family section.

Dean Windass

Looks hungry! very hungry! and played his usual game. Brilliant free-kick

David Graham

Boy what a master stroke getting him on loan. He links up well with Windass, you could see at times he was thinking ahead of windass too. Took his goal well and worked hard all game as far as I could see nothing to warrant the "he's only intrested in getting his goal" by huddersfield town fans.

Nathan Doyle

This seasons Damion stewart? at times he looked like bamby then others he was fairly decent, obviously not a natural centre back but well played for trying.

Chances for this season?

I think if Todd can sort out the nerves at the back we have a very good chance this season of at least making the play-offs. It's not beyond us this season you can see the players we've got this season are more intrested and trying todo well rather than settle for second best and a wage packer.

Todd seem's to be going for a more attacking system, you could see that from the bench he would normally cram it full of defenders but he had more attacking options on the bench.

Let's hope on saturday that Matt Clarke can provide that strength at the back that's need to keep it tight since it looks like wetherall will be out.

Todd to be sacked?

Didn't hear any shouts of that last night, just maybe he's finally picked up a bunch of players worthy of moving us to the next level? It was really good to hear the 7,000 city fans chanting and having fun for a change, even the resident moaner behind me was praising the attacking mentality last night and he didn't once praise Todd last season!

Going to the Gillingham game?

Wasn't going to after the first 2 minutes last night, but the improvement shown after that i'll scrap together the money for a second game in 5 days.

Here's too a succesful season or at least one were we are not bored rigid by the tactics.

Nice One Todd! Nice One Players! Nice One Fans! I enjoyed a good night's football for a change.

I'm sure Howarth would of caught those shots that the Don and his inferior goalkeeping needed to push over the bar ;).

Didn't say he was inferior, i'm a goalkeeper and a goalkeeping coach upto level 3 think I need a about 4 more levels then I can be a pro coach heh .. that's how I know he could of caught them ... Howarth would of probably pushed the first one back to there player and caught the second one though.

Isn't pushing the ball back out to their player like a million times worse than conceeding a corner?

Where did I say that? I don't think donovan is as good as people say he is, but he's not crap, Howarth is a decent backup keeper - get's more stick than he deserves.

But, like I said it's my opinion - I don't tell you who you should like or who you say is good or crap ... I've got my opinions right or wrong but won't conform to what others think I should think.

Yes it's worse, but were did I say it was better?

Donovan made those saves look better than they actually were, maybe for the cameras, maybe for his own ego/confidence but he made them look better than they were but people round here won't believe that cos' he's the don and has to be loved :)

His one-on-one save, even though the player was offside was of premiership standard keeping though :)

The Don for any faults he has is an entertaining whats he gonna do next goalkeeper and one of the few players who were worth watching last season, if we play like we did last night though it looks like there will be a few more players worth watching this season.

Its nowt to do with "conforming with others" a fookin blind disabled, deaf mute can see that the Don is far, far superior to Howarth who is fookin garbage, he's only still here because we couldn't get him off the books and we couldn't find another keeper - don't kid yourself its for any other reason!!
I see your other favourite - Lee "Zidane" Crooks has gone on to bigger and better things eh?....;)

You mention you are a keeper yet say the don should have caught the one going at speed in the top corner? mock: roflmao:

Were did I say he was one of my favourites? He's not but he get's a lot of stick and he's a very young keeper. Don's not a world class keeper, he's entertaining but makes just as many gaff's as howarth makes if not more but get's away with it because he may make the odd "out of this world tip over the bar" type save. He's a decent league 1 goalkeeper but any higher up the leagues i'm sure he'd be undone quite easily to honest and if your honest his antics would cost any team higher up the leagues 3 points, he can get away with them in this league because league 1 is a pile of crap.

I'd much rather have Henderson between the sticks again (even though his kicking is shocking) than Donovan or Howarth.

Don't kid yourself, it wasn't going that quick.

but i'll conform .... "It really was the best save i'm gonna ever see in my life"

I thought Johnson worked his socks off last night. He not only tracked back, he went into the middle and the other wing to get that ball. We haven't seen a winger like for a long time. He ran out of steam towards the end, but his match fitness will come.
