View Full Version : Tonights Game
I'll be quick.
The Don was fantastic, we actually now try to shoot at goal, Graham looks like he will score many, the wingers look good and the game was entertaining, lets hope its like that on sat.

Another very impressive performance.Holmes was outstanding and if i were JR i would have the cheque book out now and buy him as an investment, because we wont be able to keep him long.JJ was also imppressive and the only let down was Edgehill who kept giving the ball away.My only gripe was for the last 20 minutes we did the usaul and got deeper and deeper, but the big Don pulled off 3 outstanding saves. The players stayed on the pitch and soaked up the applause at the end and it was deserved, its the first time ive seen that for years.
agree with everything you said there Jimmy. It was joy to watch a City side go out, want to play, play with some passion, play like they wanted to score goals, and they played as a team. If we continue in that vain we will win more than we lose or draw. jump:

Agree. Holmes was good last night and the save the don made was top drawer, From the bantams bar it looked in. Go on the Don.
Graham was a great presence up front. Get them both signed up
Typical nail biting effort in the last ten minutes and a bit suprised todd didn't kill time with a few subs. I know EJ or JB werent suited to be brought on but JJ and windass looked shattered.
Same again saturday pleasetup:

Holmes is a cracking player, thought i was watching Hendrie again last night with his exiting runs and bandy legs - there's no way on this planet we can afford him tho lads - in the 2 games i've seen him play now he looks to be a 200/300k player, i don't think Derby would even sell him either - they have a good record of bringing young uns through!!
I do agree tho - i think he'll get called back before his 6 months are up if he keeps playing like that....:(

Great game, the biggest and most important difference I saw was we had more shape to our game. We have players who can take a touch and keep it in control, players playing with their heads up, intelligent runs, good use oif space, two banks of four acting as a unit. It was a refreshing change.
I thought the lad on the left, Holmes, was outstanding - a little lightweight but certainly has the balls to get stuck in when needed and has no little skill to keep out of the rough and tumble game many defenders in this league want to play.
JJ, whilst not entirely convincing, showed some glimpses of what he could be. Perhaps in time he'll be better in the middle.
Bower eventually got that giant of a forward in his back pocket in terms of anything in the air.
Only negatives I could find - soz beer I have to be my usual negative and pessimistic self sometimes! - Edgehill didn't look the best although I'll let him off because of the long lay-off he's had, finding his feet again and he did do a sublime flick up to totally confuse their number 7 which was just like watching Ronaldhino for a nanosecond! Add to that Parker's defensive skills weren't great - good touch, good passing but not so clever on putting a tackle in and needs to listen to Wethers more often - the biggest asset Wethers has is his organisation skills - his pace is shocking but he can make up for that with his brain.
The biggest negative though was that midway through the second half they brought on giant number 2 to play at centre back going to three at the back and releaseing a defender to add numbers going forward. We NEVER reacted - Todd refused to make a change, not thinking fresh legs could take a bit of pressure off, and the team gradually sank further and further back into their own 18-yard box. It was like the alamo for the last ten. Graham got dragged into defending set pieces meaning their centre halves were free to wander forward and offer another threat. All credit to big Don and a well deserved MOTM.
Still, at the end of the day a win's a win's a win's a win! 3 points, better performance, more hope, some optimism breaking through my shroud of negativity. Bring it on. Just watch us get stuffed by Gillingham on Sat'day!
