Probably, but as it happens I'm a big fan of Bridges and on top of their game personally I'd prefer Bridges. It's the same with Terry, yes I know he's a great centre half and a leader of men, but there's just something about him that I don't like. He's not the quickest of defenders and when he's on the ball with a bit of time on his hands he looks like a cygnet with diahorrea. On the surface everything is fine, but underwater he's flapping like f**k and everything's gone to pot.

You're joking yes??jawdrop:

Personally. if someone was to ask me if there was any one player in the squad that I'd actually honestly describe as out and out crap, it'd be Bridge (cue indignant site Chelsea fanatic backlash). His selection baffles me. He's not very quick, clumsy in the tackle and offers no attacking option whatsoever.

Hargreaves is ordinary but versatile, James has aspects to his game that he is very good at, but with Bridge I just think he's rubbish all round.

I've never been 100% convinced that Terry is as good as everyone says (Cue site Chelsea fanatics opening another Chuckle Voodoo Doll and Pins packet), but going into this tournement he's the rock that our defence is built on.

On his day with no external worries I still maintain that Sol is our best all round centre half, but I'm sure we aren't going to get that Sol this time or ever again and Ferdinand wouldn't even start if it was my choice and were we taking a fully fit Ledley, Rio wouldn't even make First reserve. So that in mind, a fully fit John Terry is as important as anyone to England in this World Cup.

You are obsessed with Chelsea Chuckles...

Probably because JM and the lads prove you wrong each year which must really piss you off...

Stick to bigging up GR, no one gives a shit about him anymore.....So to that end your views on him are normally ignored...

In the context that I indicate this thread is linked to news about Terry being fit for England's World Cup and my aforementioned indicator that it is good news, then yes, once again, I think it does prove as much.

It looks like Sven has decided Rio is above Sol in his pecking order so I think a fully fit Terry is a must for the World Cup.

Regards to Bridge, he's OK but nothing special he was even loaned out to Fulham last season and I'd rather have Cole or Carragher playing left back over him.

I'd drop either Bridge or Hargreaves and take another striker if I were picking the squad.

I agree, our defence is good on its day, I feel we may lack strike power tho

If you were pleased with the way Englands defence were exposed by the likes of a team of Jamaicas quality:rolleyes: then fair do's, but i was a bit worried at the way we struggled with their pace TBH:(

Don't say that the score line proves we were all over this world beating team..jawdrop:

I tried to say this yesterday but people were too busy bigging the win up...

Funny how opinions differ, i think Sol has looked slow and ponderous for both the Arse and England in recent performances. I dont like Rio and if fit my choices would be Terry & ledley King but i think at the moment Rio is a better bet than Solwho i think is maybe starting to go past his peak

it's a tough one when we have such a strong battle for one position. i think most people would agree terry has to start but what concerns me the most is how the defence play together. if you look at the last few engaln performances we've hardley looked unbeatable at the back, that said a few different formations/personel have been tried. sol is a great defender but lacks match fitness, i also think he's less of a big game player than rio. although i hate to say it because i hate rio's attitude and hair, i think rio turns on the performances in big games despite his average season. for me it would have to terry and rio but what a back up in sol!?

Rio and Terry for me everytime.

Both very acomplished on the ball and can play a bit as well. Both faster than Sol which will count for a lot up against some fast players in the world cup
