Brazil versus----------------

New Zealand today in a warm up match for Brazil. I hope that the Kiwis (All Whites) can give Brazil a good work out. It's probably the best team that we can put on the field and it's the first time for a few years that we have had the overseas players available.I hear that we will play a 4-4-2 against them.We have played Brazil twice in the last 20 years and performed OK. Look out for Glen Moss the Kiwi keeper. He is a good lad, but his defenders will be sorely tested today.I know our coach, Ricky Herbert, who played against them in the World Cup in '82 when we were beaten 4-0. Ricky is a good bloke,in his first season of coaching the National team and I wish him well.Cheers.

I am much more interested in this result as I do think New Zealand although not a strong side will be a bit of an unknown quantity for the the very talented Brazil.

Should make good watching though....

After an apparently comfortable 4-0 win against a "there is no easy ties anymore" type team.

The Brasil coach said the following

"The team played well and dominated New Zealand physically in the second half," said coach Carlos Alberto Parreira.

"But we will need to be better than that at the World Cup. We have things to improve including the ball out of defence and the co-ordination of the four men up front."

Shame only a couple of us saw the same against Jamaica then eh!!!!!!

So...Our 6-0 Gubbing of Jamaica (nope, she went of her own accord) was unconvincing. But Brazil's 4-0 win over New Zealand was comfortable. How's that work then??

I did say to look out for Glen Moss the NZ keeper. He was singled out by Parreira after the match for special mention. This lad is without a club,having been released by the NZ Knights playing in the Aussie League. Cheers.

I know!! Put that at side of the fact we only scraped through by six on Saturday, then it makes it a very open and interesting world cup methinks!!

Some fair comment here, but I think you are under valuing the effort of New Zealand. They are lucky if they can play more than 4 or 5 matches in a year. They had several top players missing,including Ryan Nelsen. We beat Estonia last week. ( I don't know where they rate) Brazil had close to their top side out which was a compliment to NZ. I've said on here a few times over the years that NZ is one of the cheapest places to buy young players.Bet your life that Glen Moss is picked up cheap now.Cheers

Credit to NZ, I take it football comes a distant third in the sports behind cricket and rugby. Good, honest comments by the Brazil boss as well will do their standing no harm.tup:
