This is my absolute favourite non England World Cup moment. Not so much for the goal, which is a beauty, but for his celebration. It doesn't really come across in the Flash Player stream in this, but he loses it and goes into Autopilot till his team mates catch him and jump on him. I'd like to think that if I'd ever scored a goal in a World Cup Final, this is how I'd have celebratedtup:

I remember as a lad Zico scoring a free kick from outside the box which was an absolute beauty....
Also loved the German keeper trashing that Frenchy... I thought the fella was dead...jump: jump:
Not even a card if i remember rightly...
The first game of Italia 90, Argentina v Cameroon.
The way 3 Cameroon defenders tried to take Caniggia down only for a 4th one to come right through him.
The Zaire's team attempt at making a wall in the 74 finals is highly amusing with players running out of the wall and kicking the ball as soon as the whistle was blown.

Ah - yep, that was funny as fook - the German goalkeeper Harold Schumacker and i believe the French player was Patrick Batiston.....:D And your right, if i remember rightly too it weren't even a yellow card even though he knocked his front teeth out....:D
Good team that French one mind - Tigana, Platini, Geresse....tup:

I'm sure I heard recently that the fouler and the foulee(!) are now the absolute best of mates! I think one of them was the others best man or something!

Nope - didn't look it up mate, if i did i'd have at least spelt the name right which im 99% certain i aint ;).....i'm a bit of a "world cup geek" if i'm honest - i have the Espana 82 sticker album completed mate....;) as i do every world cup - i've just completed the panini album for this years world cup too - for the snapper mind - honest.....tup:
Not only that it was the topic of conversation in the pub with me mates a few years ago.....:p

I knew both names instantly. Anyone with a basic knowledge of football trivia would. Jonny is right about the best man thing too.
The actual foul itself was one of the most shocking things ever. Even some of the dirty Chelsea players in 2006 wouldn't plumb those depths. Like tone says earlier on, people thought the fecker was dead. Looking back on it now it is quite funny, but at the time it was one of those "fuck me, did you see that??!!" moments.

TBH call me a sick fekker but i thought it was funny at the time - never mind later.....tup:
Ricks mention of the Cannigia incident against Cameroon too was very funny, do you think they'd had orders to "stop him at all costs" by the manager by any chance?.....:D

Not admitting to it because i didn't - the albums up in the loft, the fact i'd individually stuck in every sticker and it was the 1st world cup i'd seen made it stick in the mind!!....
The fact i knew sommat you didn't is a hard concept for you to get to grips with aint it mate?.....;)

Ahh but i admitted i didnt know Matty... Something you are scared to admit for some reason...You didnt know....Thing is its not that difficult to find out ..As you can tell by me ensuring you looked innocent by correcting the fellows last name for you...
You checked it up in your sticker book come internet search engine...
But if it makes you happy to do the same "i think its him, them this thing that thing" every time someone comes up with something you need to join in on fine mate..Lets just say you knew it then..

lol.....banghead: The incident mentioned was one of the defining world cup moments - as you do when your a kid you remember parrot fashion the names of some of the great teams/squads.....my Espana 82 sticker album is neatly boxed away in the loft mate, i honestly have a lot better things to do then get the ladders out of the garage to go up in the loft - check out the names, then have a look on the net for references of the incident.....;)
If you don't believe me then fair do's - not a big deal, the only reason i'm stressing i didn't look it up - is because i didn't look it up.....:)

Pmsl...I remember it sort of reminded me of a cat trying to cross a busy road, lucky twat just missed that car, oh & another one!...them BLAM:eek: ...Hit by a fecking Juggernaut!:D ...Would have felt sorry for the poor cnut if he hadn't being a dirty Argie bassatdwn:
The highlights of that tackle and the Schumacher tackle are on the BBC website in it's archive collection of footage.
There are full reviews of all the world cups since 1982 and many classic game highlights.
The link his here.

For the Cameroon tackle it's 4min 30 sec into the Italia 90 review.

My course lasted one week... Yours may be longer as it is with civilian staff whereas mine was an Army FA run couse so we study full time...
Learning the LOAF (Laws of Association Football) is fully recommended prior to going so you know what the rules of the game are rather than Andy Grays interpretation...
The first time you ref is scarey..For me its wasnt as bad as it will be for you as i was reffing an Army match...Discipline is different obviously...
Tips...Dont look at your watch unless the ball is out of play...Guranteed you will miss the biggest decision in the world...
Because of your age you will start at Level 7...Each year you get the chance of Promotion.Minimum criteria is to ref 20 League games...Middles only... You also need to be assessed 2-3 times and you have to pass a refs exam..The further you go the harder the physical test..
Failure in any of those will result in you not being promoted...
I love reffing... Its a real buzz.. You need to be fit to ref though not ref to get fit...Nothing worse than some lardy who cannot leave the centre circle for fear of getting out of breath...
In short its hard..90 mins full concentration having to remember all the rules and permitations of them...But if you know your shit its very rewarding.. You will never please everyone even if you are totally right all the time..

The guy's just rung me back from the West Riding FA - its a ten week course that costs about 50 nicka at Bradford Uni on a Monday night - 2 hours every monday so its 20 hours obviously!! Although 2 sessions of that are a child protection course you have to do and i have to have a police background check which i expected.....
I used to ref 5 a side at Eccy sports centre a few years ago i enjoyed it immensley, altho the "course" (if you could call it that) was only a days training on a Saturday!!
I presume you start off doing under 11's or sommat to begin with?....
The course doesn't start till the end of September so i've got plenty of time to start having a read up of the proper laws of the game.....;)

Nah mate..Should be straight in the deep end...Local football leagues..
Remember the golden pre match rule... Get the cash before kick off...tup:
Most newly qualified refs jack it after a couple of games cos they cannot take the verbal...
I was lucky first two years i did Army games before doing civi circuit as well..By then i was more than happy and could easily control a game...
You will love it mate...
Just watch games and look at the positioning of the ref...
It's hard to ref at club level as your linos (less some cup matches) are one each from the two teams...Each runs the line of THEIR own back four...
Some cheat by flagging offside for nothing... But you will learn how to deal with them in due time mate...
I wish you good luck mate....

Nope, I was only doing to you exactlywhat you suggested Matty had done when naming those two footballers, knowing full well that ;
A) It'd go straight over your head (which it clearly did)
and
B) Having never been one to take back what you dish out in spades, you'd cry like a nipper (which you did)
Why is that????...Obviously from a deep jealousy stemming from being the last picked or the "oh not dave ffs" syndrome...
Tone...why the fook do you automatically assume that anyone on here is in any way jealous of you?? Seriously. I mean I don't for a minute presume that your real life persona is anything like your message board one, but if it were, I't be pity I feel towards you, not Jealousy tone mate.

You will have no probs im sure..
Confrontation is part of the buzz lol
Go watch local league games is my best advice and watch the refs performance...Then you will see the good and bad ...Making it easier for you to a good addition to the game rather than a whislte blowing "i've never played Nazi"
A lot of enjoyment comes from the Chuckles types who fire verbal at you without having a clue of the real rules....jump: jump: jawdrop:
Thats also a reason why i always attend my sons footy practices and matches...Bad dads at the side...Fat blokes and geeky blokes who obviously have never played football destroying their sons with verbal shite...
"get up , get back , head it what the fook are you doing" Fat geeky barstewards....
Thankfully i have a talented boy who WANTS to be there...If the highest he got was local pub football thats good enough for me....Some bad dads out there ....

Is it just little retund man syndrome maybe...
Looking at your post count i would say it is you who spends more time on here.. You have nearly caught me and Panther has flown past... Once again though not like you to bend things to make you look the innocent..
Once again boring though...Mr and Mrs Spinderella are well suited ....

I don't give in at all..Im just bored ( cue obvious response from the fat dwarf)

In fact recently you have become a geek like stalker to any thread i go on...I dont mind a crack on here...In fact i normally love em for the laugh but you mate are just boring the fooking arse off me...
Now im sure i have that effect on some on here too..But with most if i have had a run in i leave it after that thread has died you on the other hand the king of spin just go on and on and on and on and on and on..
The only solution is to just stay away from your posts...But thats not too easy due to you hanging on every word i write...
Im happy to crack on too though as you are nothing special whatsoever..You of course think you are...
The worst thing is the poor gits who agree with something you dont...Now i argue my case sometimes i grant you too hard but the way you treat these others is amazing..
The PM's we swapped re others on here before if you have em still read the fookers cos you have become worse in that regard...A million miles worse ..
