Will not be hosting any events until next year, it has just been announced.
Wel there is a surprise. Hopefully the fall out and the row that is now going to explode between multiplex and the FA will result in names being named and right people blamed.

Isn't it going to cost Multiplex a Million quid a week now until it is finished properly??

Multiplex have told the Australian stock exchange they are not responsible for any overcosts or any compensations that may be due - How do they work that one out?

Fook knows - and who cares? There's obviously been some major feck ups, there always is on a project this size....at the end of the day were gonna have the finest stadium on the planet - as long as its in place for our play-off final at the end of next season i'm happy.....;)

How come the millenium was built at about a quarter of the cost and in about a quarter of the time, the taxpayers will end up footing the bill for the FAs incompetence. Saying that tho, if we are there in next years playoff like you say nobody will give a f**k about how long it took to build

They should have built in the midlands anyway. Cheaper and much easier for the fans to get to.

How come other countries can get these things right but we cant?:(
Even Wales built the Millenium stadium on time & at a fraction of the cost of the new Wembley, i bet most of the delays are because of red tape & health & safety bullsh/t which this countries obsessed with at the momenttdwn:

Read somewhere today that by the time the first game is played it will have been 7 years since the last game played at Wembley !
Either way it is an horrendous advert for our ability to be ready in time for the Olympics.
How come we used an Australian company to build it in the first place?
There were so many English firms desperate for that contract, it would have had a knock on affect aswell for other English firms getting work through the door.
Fck 'em.

Thats a very good question emj, with a very simple answer.
The decision to award the contract to Multiplex was taken by Ken Bates and him alone, without other companies being given the chance to tender. A report into the tendering process described it as a "massive failure of governence."
Interestingly, shortly after multiplex were awarded the Wembley contract, they were contracted to build the new West Stand at Stamford Bridge, for an unspcified sum.

Does it really matter?.....seriously?? Its not gonna personally affect us, and it aint noticably cost anyone of us a penny....when i'm sat there next season either watching City in the play off final, or England and i'm sat looking round at the most beautiful stadium on the planet - i'm not gonna really give a feck who made what decisions, how long it took and how much it costs am i?

You've got a point there, but at least £120 million of it was public money, which could be spent elsewhere. If multiplex are succesful in their legal claims, it could bankrupt the FA and stop all funding of the grassroots game. It will effect you as a fan in as much as you will have to take out a mortgage to afford a ticket.
While I agree that there is not much to be gained from blaming people, surely we wouldn't want Bates to involved in football's governance again would we?

Thing is at a capacity of 90,000 its a bloody big stadium. If we get to the Playoff finals or LDV Vans finals next year then i'd want us to be playing a well supported team. Huddersfield in the playoff final at Wembley would be the dream one for me, either that or Sheffield Wendies to get relegated and meet them in the final. The Wendys would take 40,000 easily, perhaps 45,000. Should imagine we'd take around 33,000 again. Thats 78,000 straight off, then 12,000 neutrals = a full Wembley.
then 12,000 neutrals = a full Wembley.
Why would 12,000 people want to watch a league 1 play-off that they had no conection with?

There's no way on this planet it'd even be remotely full no matter who we played in a playoff final - weve been in the premier league since and it aint that long since we were last there so we'd loose thousands of the "day trippers" we had last time - we'd take 20-25,000 should we ever get there.....Hudders may have a decent fanbase but it doesn't stretch past 30,000 - so it'd be nearer half full than full - the only time the ground would be anywhere near full for a league 1 playoff final would be a Notts Forest v Sheffield Wednesday scenario - and i doubt it'd be full even then!!
