Went for a pint after yesterdays game to drown my sorrows and heard a snippet which throws light on Ben's performance yesterday and the class of Todds management skills.
Dean Windass told a fan at yesterdays Museum attendance that he shouldn't be surprised if Ben only played the first half as his wife had just been 20 hours in labour with Ben also in attendance. As it happened he played (if you could call it that) for the full 90 minutes.
This all begs the question why Todd played him at all in the first place when it would be obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense that he would be in no fit state to play. My wife was 14 hours in Labour and that was bad enough on me so I know what is involved.
Yesterdays performance was the equal of the Docherty era. The only saving grace of that era was I was in the Air force overseas so was unable to attend the majority of the games. At the moment I wish I could join up again.
