Yes, I'll hold my hand up as well. Here I am admitting my guilt. Can you see how much of a toll Saturday's game took on me. I was once a 20 stone Superfat lad, enjoying my chicken balti pies at the fortress Valley parade, and now I've aged 40 years, lost 15 stone, lost the ability to shave/cut my nails/comb my hair and for some bizarre reason gained a tan - ah well there's a crumb of comfort for all the stress City give me!

Go on then, seeing as I like being the only man in an unfashionable position.

Saying I love Todd is a bit strong. But I don't think he deserves all the stick he is getting, and I don't think people are taking a wide enough view of the circumstances at Valley Parade.

It's only 18 months since the club nearly ceased to exist. We have no reason to expect anything more than treading water at this stage.

Todd's biggest problem is that he overachieved last season and thus set expectations too high for this season. By rights we should have been fighting relegation all the way through last season, and to actually finish in 11th place only 6 points outside the play offs was a massive result. Todd wasn't given all the credit for that, and he shouldn't be given all the blame now.

All that has happened is that we aren't overperforming again this season. The bit of luck that saw goals go in through rub of the green and lucky rebounds is working against us this year instead of for us, and because of that we aren't storming the table as some would like. There are more factors involved in a football team than just the manager, and some of it comes down to blind luck.

We still haven't been in a relegation spot all season. We are currently 15th, which is a mid-table position, and that's the lowest we've been all season. Whilst we have to look over our shoulders a bit, we aren't in the thick of the relegation scrap just yet.

Managers get sacked when they are in the bottom 5 for a prolonged period of time. We aren't there, we haven't been there and we aren't going to end up there.

I'm not saying Todd is by any means perfect, and I'm sure there are individual mistakes that can be picked out. Guess what, he's human. I just don't see how any manager that we could afford to attract could do a deal better with the resources on hand.

explain then how the likes of Colchester have done so well on tiny crowds and no doubt a smaller wages budget and no "star" players - I would say look at the manager .
I don't think we over achieved last season at all , and this season has dissolved into one of major disappointment on and off the field.
I fail to see how a couple of the senior players could do any worse than CT & BD , maybe Windass would not be keen if Claridge was to form some part of this set up - but i doubt many others would be sorry to see Todd leave in a taxi and BD.

you say we have to look over our shoulders a bit ? , hmm with Blackpool an Walsall coming up next - if we don't get at least 3 points then we will be feeling the breath on our necks of the clubs striving to avoid relegation - and at the moment some of them look more up to the task than City.

I posted this on another thread, but it fits in here as well:

We are inching our way towards safety. Don't forget that this may have been a loss, but the game before against Bournemouth was a win. It might be one step forward for two steps back at the moment, but if we can win one in three it will be enough to see us safe.

4th from bottom is held by Gillingham, who have 41 points from 37 matches. Projecting that to 46 matches gives them 51 points. We have 45 points from the same number of matches - we only need to achieve 2 wins from the next 9 games to be on 51 points, and we would have a superior goal difference.

To be reasonably safe we need to get 8 points from the next 9 matches. Over the last 10 we have got 11 points, or 1.1 points a match. That gives us another 10 points from the next 9 games on current form.

We will finish on around 55 points, and we will be 4 or 5 places off of relegation.

Todd is not going to go at this stage unless that form seriously collapses - you would need to see another 4 or 5 losses on the trot in my opinion for his position to be under serious threat.
