good meeting , pretty well attended all things considered , Panther declined a Sherry , very decent spread put on as well by The George , sensible questions put to MBW who answered them openly ( no one said anything about Todd though ) .
Only bad bit for me was the realisation that the BCISC future is uncertain , was hoping for an update but we were left wondering still - this after all the work of the previous 12 months is a pisser !
Shippers has a good base of members and still is the best way to travel to away games if you don't want to take the car - remember they have taken fans to every games again this season folks , oh and not forgetting the Shoulder at Shelf who also run trips to some aways.
why is the BCISC future in doubt?

Ed - because of the shit caused by the Christmas draw fiasco basically - I'm still keen for it go forward but it needs a certain number of people to run it properly .
What happened to all those commitee members? When I was on that there must of been at least 14 people.

All dwindled away as a resut of the shoddy treatment at the hands of those responsible for running Bradford City f.c
So, no-one found out about the wig then....
Typical, dodging all the important issues!

Not quite true on my part - i left because my circumstances changed - i have a business to run and now have a kid on the way, i applaud those that stuck around and give the time up to run the BCISC - i'm fully aware of the unrewarded time it takes and even the stick you get in some quarters from the ignorant!!
Me and QB will be renewing our memberships shortly Wisey because we both believe its worth supporting - hopefully many others will follow suit!!

there's still a few of us willing to carry it forward but we'll have to see what transpires in the next couple of weeks.

You may as well not bother if your going to be nodding lapdogs to the folk treating you like dirt. I said when I left there were too many trusty wanabees involved not prepared to ask questions of or stand up to the club. The car fiasco is what happens when you let your belly be tickled instead of nipping their fingers.
I'm not having a pop, I said at the start any organisation should be prepared to ask awkward questions. It seemed to me that when the opportunity to do so, the Boardroom Jaffa cakes overawed some people slightly.

That would depend on what the 'awkward questions' were and the concensus behind them I would have thought.:)

Well the 64,000 Dollar question should be,
"Why don't you start treating your customers with a bit of respect?"
It's simple, to the point and a reasonable question. Unfortunately none of the fans organisations I've been involved with, either as a committee member or a paid up member have seen fit to ask it.

Would you be prepared to ask that question?

Would you be prepared to ask that question?
He probably has, and got rebuffed....and he is entitled to his opinions but that doesn't make the BCISC or any other fans organisation worth any less because they don't ask the questions that one or two members want them to.
There should always be a concensus or every Tom, Dick or Harry will expect there lonely voice to be heard without democratic orchestration.

What I meant was is there any benefit in asking awkward questions? There has to be some sort of mutual respect. A fans organisation doesn't have the right to know every detail of how the club is run as much as we'd like it to.

I would, in a breath.

It's not a lack of repect to be able to ask why fans are having to pay for season tickets that they have already paid for, why they are getting ripped off with replica shirts, why the club won't answer letters of fans with genuine concerns or queries, why the club encourage a defeatest lack of atmosphere at games, why club employees talk to customers like they are shit, etc etc
You say that respect should be mutual, you're rightb there, that's why the folk at Valley Parade get the same respect from me that they give to me as a fan and that is fcuk all!

Well then get yourself back in there!

Well then get yourself back in there!
I feel as someone not attending games anymore or as someone markedly not making any financial contribution with repect to purchases etc in way of protest at the way the club is run, I have no right to be part of a fans organisation who expects dialogue with the Club.
We'll have to see how things go in light of any takeover, because If there is a new investor, it's safe to assume any fortune he has made is on the back of successfully knowing what a customers needs are. That is the first area his expertise will be required and it's badly needed.

I agree,
At the famous meeting where the BCISC was formed it was agreed that it would be a democratic organisation made up of branches with their own committee who in turn would have representation on a steering committee who would interface with the club.
Any major concerns would filter up to the club and the replies filter down to the membership. Seemed fairly straight forward at the time but I don't know if that's happening cos I can't get to meetings.
The democratic process should ensure that the relationship with the club is amicable.....I don't know what's gone wrong but something has:(

I said in another thread that if the new investment comes off etc the first thing the club should do is employ a pproper pr and customer relations officer to deal with everything from fans gripes to media perception etc

It's not rocket science KK, the BCISC filter the questions up to the club then the club filter them into the litter bin and keep schtum till they need a scapegoat when they've fecked up the Christmas draw, through typical incompetence!

If that is the case then I'm not surprised the BCISC is struggling for volounteers. Like I said earlier, mutual respect includes the club keeping their part of the bargain.

plus i forgot about the embarrasment caused when Kirklees branch was expecting Crooks as a guest , and he did not turn up leaving 30 people wondering wtf was going on and the buffet put on being the highlight of the evening - getting to the bottom of that one was difficult but it transpired that the club had never actually confirmed anything with the player so he was blameless - so we know who was !!!!!!!!!
Maybe it's just easier to go to the matches and not have the burden of it all , but the idea is still right - but the club needs to change the way it views the supporters - perhaos we are just about seeing this now ....hopefully.
