But didn't L***s when the previous owners before Ken took over, manage to write off a great deal of their 80 odd million in debt, so that it was significantly reduced? I'm sure Euro would know.

They probably have - but without the protection of administration they must have done so in a legitimate manner!

I think what happened was that those involved basically said to the creditors, we'll only take over the club if you relent or accept X amount of the debt or we'll just let the club go into administration and you can take your chances there.
I'm glad they're still in business, because I just couldn't hate another club like I do them. It wouldn't be the same.

They also managed to "save" over 100k after the creditors were paid, which was used for team strengthening. I'm sure that money would have more than welcome to the poor b*ggers who got their half a groat in the pound or whatever.

I weren't "praising" em - and i dislike em as much as the next man - my only point was that folk are quick to forget our own dodgy, underhand way of relieving ourselves of our obligatory debts.....L**ds appear to be doing it slowly, carefully and most impressively of all - fairly above board and honestly!! The fans might not be happy with ticket price increases, but the couple of L**ds fans i know appreciate why they have to pay more and are happy with the impressive job Bates has done!!
IF they do pip Sheff Utd to second spot or go up through the play-off's you have to say it is a very, very impressive achievement - even the most battle hardened L**ds hater, given the chance to remove their claret tinted specs would surely acknowledge that?....:eek:

As far as I am aware they went in to administration for about 5 minutes, just long enough to clear off the bulk of their debts.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they just aren't paying a large chunk of their creditors because of the administration.

I seem to remember an article in the EP which said that a fund of 5 - 600k was made available to pay creditors, of which they managed to "save" over 100k, which may well be above board but it has a rather nasty odour about it.
Please don't let them get promotion!!!!

Nobody knows how they are doing financially as they have posted accounts yet but if it their doing it slowly, carefully and honestly it will be a first for captain birdsye.

Its just like Chelsea, which he bought for a pound out of admin, which he saddled with £120 of debt before Roman cropped up and saved the club, when it was one week away from admin again.

And like Chelsea he wont disclose who the other offshore backers are.

Yes Leeds were in admin for 5 minutes while £100 of debt was written off to faciliate the sale to bates.

L@@ds were no better than us in the treatment of creditors, its just the sums were greater.
