Load of ball cox Parrot.England will lift f/// all again.Remember Brazil quarter Finals.pmsl.Sven was content to sit back like Todd does at City.A player sent off and we didnt manage 1 single shot on goal in the whole of the second half against 10 men.Brazil we're there for the taking and any manager worth his salt would have gone for it.You would'nt have seen the Germans,Argies,France or even Japan sitting there content would you?

Im no Sven fan mate as you know, in fact i call Turd a "mini-Sven", useless, negative bassa!
I dont think we will win the World Cup, we have the best players since 1970 IMO, but the Swede hasn't got a clue....But if i was the manager, that would be my team, give or take a few changes to suit the opposition in big games!;)

Parrot - If the world cup final was tommorrow and you were selecting the team would you honestly pick Carragher (who has played centre half all season) at left back and Wright phillips (who has hardly played at all) in front of Beckham?

Like I said QB, it would depend on the opposition, i dont rate Ashley Cole as a defender, Carraghers better, but Cole is the better attacking option.
Only way Beckham would get in my team would be centre midfield or right side of a 3 man midfield, yeah he's got a great cross/corner/free-kick but thats no good if you can't get enough crosses in a game.
Look how many times SWP got a cross in the box last night in 10 mins compared to how many Beckham put in in 80???
Games against the so-called minnows i'd probably play Cole & Beckham, where we'd expect to be camped in their half for long periods.
In the tough games where we'd be counter attacking, SWP would be perfect for the counter attack & Carragher would defend better than Cole! IMO;)
Hope that answered your question mate;)

Each to their own mate. I agree with your point on carragher being a better defender but;
a) he is naturally right footed so this could make us unbalanced down that side, especially with not having a true left sided midfield player
and
b) He has played centre half in 99% of the games this year so it would mean playing in a slightly unfamiliar position. I always belive that players who represent England should be playing in a position that they normally occupy for their club.
The problem with Wright-Phillips is that while he gets to the bye-line more than becks, he crosses sometimes let him down. Its more a question of quantity rather than quality whereas with becks the quality is almost guaranteed.

Surprised that everyone has put Campbell in the team instead of Ferdinand, would have thought that Svens first choice pairing would be Rio and Terry, especially with all the problems Campbell has been having.

Bob, Rio's been pants lately and is a liability. Campbell is a better stopper for me as long as his head's in the right place, which I think it will be by the time the WC comes round. Plus he lifts himself for big games.
Personally I'd go for Carragher and Terry at the mo and see how that works, but we all know Sven will stick with Rio anyway.

Totally agree mate, I would also like to see Carragher and Terry in at centre back. We do have an abudance of great centre backs in this country at the mo, the likes of Dawson and King as well.

Spot on SFB. Campbell is a big game player but if he is not quite right then carragher would be a great shout.

As long as SWP is warming the bench at Chelsea, best he can hope for in the national side is the odd cameo in friendly games and quite right too. Michale Owen recognised the need for first team football in the run up to Germany. SWP should have done the same. Plus, it's alright being able to run with the ball, which he is great at, but there is so much more to Beckhams all round game and what a lot of people overlook, Beckham is a very good captain. I said at the time SWP was overpriced and making the wrong move in a World Cup season and have been proven correct. Another season at Man City would have had him knocking on the door for a place in the starting XI, as it stands, I'd not be surprised to see him miss the plane altogether.
A fully fit and focused Sol Campbell should be the first name on the teamsheet in defence. However, I doubt wether Campbell is either fit or focused and have reservations about wether he will be by June. At this moment in time Rio Ferdinand is not playing well enough to be his replacement. Crragher or King should be in front of him to partner Terry. I'd have Carragher as back up to Ashley Cole on the left before Bridge too. Bridge is shite.

I'd still opt for the return flights package to be safe though , I can't see our gallant lads getting beyond the quarter finals sorry.
