He'd be the trusty old Labrador that you have loved for many a year but it's now kinder to have put to sleep because it hurts to see him walking into the doors and shitting on the kitchen floor.

Aye - at least Barry Davies knew when to call it a day!! I thought Pearce was still contracted to the BBC or is that just radio? Green's another good commentator - and being totally serious it'd be good to hear Coops on the TV, he's the best commentator on Talksport!!

The old goat spotted Crouch had No12 on the front of his shirt and No21 on the back.lol.
Reminds me of Murray Walker, a class act but should of called it a day long before he did.
BTW - Does this ref realise this is a friendly as he's handing card out all over the place.

Get Derm Tanner on the telly (preferably on Bravo or somewhere where nobody has to listen to him)

He was an embarassment last night. It really spoils your enjoyment of the game when you get no continuity or sense from the person tasked with talking you through what is happening. Mind you I think the fact that BBC1 had a 5 minute intro and then a 2 minute round-up at the end was disgraceful as well. What happened to the old 1/2 hour build-up and good old summing up for 20 mins at the end. Oooops, sorry we have to accomodate Davina now don't we, and we must get the 10 o'clock news on at the right time!

I must admit that Motty is way past his sell by date, he alway's has to get some bit if trivia into the commentary, for instance the guy that scored for Uruaguay(an absolute belter by the way)he mentioned that he was 26 yesterday, and then followed that with:"how apt that he scored in the 26th minute.
Time for the pipe and slippers. always thought that Barry Davies was the best with the football on the Beeb, and Martin Tyler is enjoyable to listen to.
Don't particularly like John Helm or Clyde(Clive?)Tyldesley either.
Blasts from the past, Keith Macklin, Mr.L***s United himself, Hugh Johns, who were both very poor, I always imagined Macklin commentating on the L***s game with a scarf wrapped around his wrist.
Probaly the best one of the lot in those days was good old Kenneth Wolstenholme, "they think it's all over, .........it is now"
You can just imagine Motty praying for England to get to the World Cup, as he will have some "off the cuff"remark ready now.

The Beeb actually have some decent commentators these days, Guy Mowbray, Steve Wilson etc, who only cover MOTD and the odd game in the FA Cup. John Motson is apalling, though I think the worst partnership on the Beeb is Jonathan Pearce and Mark Bright, makes you reach straight for the mute button!
