i went to the colchester match last saturday and it's taken me this long to puzzle through some things i have seen.
it was pretty obvious that colchester were going to win even before the first whistle as after trotting out of the tunnel they huddled together in a team talk style bundle whilst our lads all stood around like lemons.
personally i think at least one person in that dressing room has terrible management skills and this includes being unable to motivate or boost his own team. if CT can't do this then i believe it's up to Wetherall to pull his finger out and properly support these lads, not just say that he is. if CT is not encouraging him to do so (which he probably isn't) then it's up to DW to sort it out himself being captain. i think if he had proposed a team pow-wow last minute on the pitch to bolster his team then i believe that we could have kept up the momentum for the entire game instead of becoming disheartened after the first colchester goal. only tommy penford from the whole team kept the pressure up all match... so no wonder it was 3-1.
stewart had a great game too but the other lads' hearts just weren't in it. they need the motivation of a good leader -- be it CT or DW but someone needs to do it.
city have a bad attitude problem: deano regularly complained if he didn't get the ball passed to him so that he could get a shot but he hardly did anything else except a few theatrical whinges. if he can't be arsed to fight for the team or if he is just too old to run around anymore then something should be done about it. no-one wanted to have a shot at goal they all just hovered around the edge of the box because they lack confidence -- back to the morale boosting leader theory again.
we need the young ones in the team to breathe some fresh air into it. maybe sanasy has an attitude but maybe bradford could use it to their advantage -- he has scored 13 out of 13 afterall.
we have a great set of lads at city. we do, and although you can always criticize them and have a go in actual fact you can really get the best out of people if you get behind them, support them and show that you believe in them. we as fans should be doing this and it should be the utmost priority of CT and DW -- so i hope they bloody read this and see sense in my words and ACT upon it...
