Permission has been given granted to Brighton to build a new stadium, this is great news especially as they fully supported both us and Wrexham when we were in financial difficulties.

Great news, must have been hell being a brighton fan over the last few years. Its just a case now of getting the stadium built - we might even be playing in it half completed in this level or the next!

McGhee hopes the new stadium can boost the club's disappointing home form, which has seen the Seagulls lose four times at Withdean but only once away.

"I think we've had a fantastic away record," added the Brighton boss. "The problem has been at home and it's got to do with the stadium.

Maybe we need a new stadium?

Sooner rather than later fingers crossed. We will never see the Premier League again at Valley Parade. We have to move on to move upwards.

Don't have a go at me, I'm not happy about it either, but Manningham is no place for a football ground that runs at three quarters empty on match days.

Only thing that ties us to VP is the memory of the 56 who perished that fatefull day & rightly so!
On the other hand the only way forward for this club is to move to a new purpose built stadium on the out-skirts of Bradistan or even somewhere in the Aire valley perhaps?
That way it can draw it's support from the surrounding communities & the new stadium would rekindle the hopes of the present fan base.
You only have to look at places like Hull, H*dders & Swansea who historically had smaller attendances than us, playing in sh*thole grounds, but now have moved on & are reaping the rewards through 20k gates & sponsorships ect...
City are dying at VP, mark my words:mad:

You don't need bricks and mortar to remember those lost. In fact we'll never forget wherever we play. It will be passed down from generation to generation what happened. A new memorial on the new ground, and something to mark what happened on whatever replaces VP would still count as lasting memorials. Those folk wouldn't want City to die, but that will happen in Manningham.

I hate to say it - but your both right!!....:(

Mark Neale  had it pretty much spot on when he mentioned it being located in the aire valley......

As long as they build a bantams bar in the new stadium - i'll be happy.....:D

*KB grins and cracks a bottle of Kronenburg blande open, glad that he's saving his brass for a day on the ale tomorrow with no hangover and a weekend away in London next weekend - whilst at the sametime putting his mobile on silent :D*

Gotta say. Wasn't that impressed with The Love Apple indie night. Full of spotty student oiks with their bohemian attire behaving like pricks and zilcho in the way of eye candy. The Music was good but the venue and the clientelle absolutley gash.

aye the love apple's not the greatest venue and the drinks are far too expensive.they only get away with it cos nowhere else is open after 11 playing decent music. watch this space though, delius is getting the late license in november and with any luck they might put a dj on sat nights. no need to go to the smelly old love apple then! or rio's or the fucking peel!

What the West End in Bradford lacks is a Tumblers style, real music venue that caters for the over twenty fives. I know Maxicool is bananas but he was looking into opening one a year or two back. The old Ice Bar near what was VIPs and what used to be BD1 at the bottom of Ivegate were the venues he looked at. The BD1 would have been ideal cos it's walking distance from The West End and near Georges Hall for the Pre Gig crowd.

After the Love Apple, we went into Livingstones, what a crappy smelly den of shithouses that has become. I felt like having a shower when we came out. Most of the bars didn't have lime segments for the Corona either! It's a fooking liberty that they'll charge three nicka for a bottle and not make the effort with the lime!! We live in a civilised society, is it too much to ask for Bradford nightlife to cater to those of us with a bit of refinement in our drinking habits????

i don't think the market is there for it week in week out chuckle. the once a month nights seem to do quite well.same with northern soul type things, one off nights are popular but a regular place would probably be empty most nights.

Well done Brighton. Just shows what fans can do when they are united, organised and determined.

New stadium on the outskirts: rubbish idea.
Waste of all the money that has already been spent on VP, which we are still paying back.
Are people staying away becuase VP is in Manningham, or becuase we're rubbish? People didn't mind coming to VP when we were in the Prem, whatever a new stadium costs should be spent on players to get us back in the Prem, or the Championship even.
How can you makea case for new stadium on our current gates.
Its easy enough to walk to VP from both of Bradford's stations, which would not be the case if we went out of town.
Would have thought that the answer would be to make Manningham a better place, get the government and the Eu to pay for that, not the club.

Thats the whole Idea Euro, a purpose built stadium would have great road links & Im sure there would be a new found enthusiasm for the club
among supporters which would increase our gates like it's done to Hudders,Hull & Swansea who were getting around 5k before they moved to new stadiums!

As for pumping yet more money into Manningham, why should we?
Manningham was a very affluent area of Bradford before our "Asian brothers" decieded to live there & proceed to drag the area down to 3rd World status.
Let them live in their own filth!
