...has lost a lot of my respect for him. he came out after lasts night game with grimsby complaining that the mariners captin had elbowed him. This did happern, but only after shearer had done the same to him. Also i like shearer but he is a niggly player, he in almost all premiership games has his elbows everywhere and often get nothing given agains him becuase he is a 'god' to the geordies. With his comments last night he now seems very unprfessional, and because he gives it out everyweek i dont think he should be too surprised when he gets it himself, its what he deserves.

He should have knuckled the Grimsby Thug. He'd have got a three game rest and got to give a talentless low league twat who was only trying to make a name for himself what he deserved! The wanker.

Not really the same thing was it, Shearer's elbow was there as you jump up for the ball, the Grimsby player was lookin for Shearer then threw his elbow at him deliberately.

Shearer had the last laugh anyway by scoring the winner.

Thinking exactly the same myself - a fookin nobody trying to make a name for himself - wonder if he'd have dared tried that in the carpark with Shearer?....he aint fit to lick the muck off Shearers boots!!

It wasn't a suprise it was overlooked with that joke of a referee.

I still remember him refereeing the game at Derby in the Premiership when he sent 2 players off for nothing, then last night he doesn't even give a foul, lets face it he had a clear view and was no more than 10 yards away looking straight at it.

It's quite amazing how he got away with it especially on a player like Shearer, especially when Shearer has been known to referee games (Newcastle v Bradford in the FA cup for example;))

Showed ont replays aswell that he moved to put the wistle to his mouth as if to blow for a foul then decided against it.

Shearers wasnt an elbow to start with it was his forearm if owt. Shearer does back into players and create fouls but last night you saw him go totally for the ball and use his arms to elevate. He even appologised to the idiot.

Whittle should have got a yellow at best ..He knew exactly what he was doing. There is no place for that in football not even at League Two level.

Shearer went up in my estimation last night for not ripping that fellas legs off below the Knee... I know i would of back in my Sunday League days... Followed by nearly every other member of the team....

I'm sure Shearer has dished it out many times throughout his carreer, to play the role he does, it comes with been able to dish it out and take it.

However with that comes a respect between pros, even at amatuer level I've had a elbow smash against my ear ( boy does it hurt). And the battle ends at the end of the game with an hand shake.

I felt Whittle overstepped that mark last night.
If Whittle had challenged the header and a wild flailing arm had caught Shearer, i'm sure he would have took it as part and parcel of the game.
I was made up when Shearer scored, I was also hoping there was a 50/50 ball for them to win to see the outcome.

Shearer was clearly extremely angry that Whittle got away with it under Halsey's nose.

I noticed that Whittle hung back after initially appearing to go down the tunnel after the game.

Anyoner remember an incident involving Shearer a few years back, where he kicked or elbowed an opponent in the head by the touchline ( I forget the details).

Whittle's a fooking coward - end of......any advantage Shearer gets from backing in or using his arms is fair (most of the time) - he's not a dirty player and would never resort to such tactics - the reason he's one of the best ever strikers this country has produced is because of his physical presence.....the Grimsby bloke is just a lower league thug trying to make a name for himsen!!

I can't understand how he went down in your estimation Calverley - as Tonyd said he didn't react - so whats up? Shearer is one hard fooker - he doesn't mouth off and give it large like some folk, but i wouldn't mess, don't forget the incident with Roy Keane - he swung for him and Shearer just stood there - didn't even blink, he didn't say owt - or give a funny look or anything.....you could see in his eyes though he was thinking "is that it?"

Shearer's a legend - not just because of his goalscoring record, but because of his attitude to the game and total professionalism......

Whittle - who the fook's he?......

Exactly! Agree with EVERY word of that.

I don't think anybody would want to mess with Shearer. If Whittle did what he did in the Carpark, he'd be eating his lunch through a straw today. You treat former England captains with respect, especially with the pedigree that Shearer has and the way he carries himself on and off of the pitch!

. You treat former England captains with respect,

Dont agree totally with that Chuckles... On the pitch he should get the same shit as everyone else, past glories should mean nowt...

Whittle just overstepped the mark, big time...

Shearer has done the same thing more than once looking back..

Although, he was sent off by Rennie i think, who was in a simillar position to that joker ref last night...

He looked a twat anyway when Shearer called him out at the final whistle and he backed out going down the tunnel... :D

Shearer is a legend! He got a cut lip and stayed standing! now thats rare in a football match! anything from a slight push in the back and there down on the floor. If it was the other way round Whittle would have been on the floor rolling around like a big puff which would have cost shearer a card.
