The sad thing is they will actually seed Spain if they make it to the World Cup over everyone who won their groups.

Well thats because of the seeding policy in place prior i would think...

Germany Italy and Spain are only second seeds for the Euros....So to me that suggest that Spain are not faves as you think with the boys at the top..

Why Turkey should win theirs and so should the Czechs....No hard matches on paper in any of those..

Spain are notorious underperformers in the major competitions. They constantly go out in the group stages to far lesser teams.They couldn't even win a group headed by Serbia and Montenegro I would hope that the Spaniards are not seeded at the expense of anybody.

Last World cup's seedings were farcial in the sense that they had to seed Japan and South Korea as hosts when in reality they'd never have got anywhere near. This year should see Seeds more realistically set out. The top eight in the World Rankings would be the obvious choice.

You'd think so but look at the world rankings, they have Spain in at number 8 and the USA at 7 which we know is bollocks.


1 Brazil
2 Netherlands
3 Argentina
4 Czech Republic
5 Mexico
6 France
7 USA
8 Spain
9 Portugal
10 Sweden

The world rankings are no better than the crappy system they currently have in place.

Firstly Chuckles Serbs are not a bad team, bet they will shock a few next year..BTW Chuckles where did South Korea exit the World Cup?????:D

Secondly the rankings arfe based on the competetive matches played... We as a nation dont play that many....

Not FIFAs fault... Blame the FA...:mad:

The Fifa world rankings are a joke because they include all friendly matches. We moved down because we lost to Spain and Denmark in two bob friendlies, they also don't take into account the strength of the opposition as Mexico and the USA only play against garbage in qualifiers hence the high positions they occupy.


The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking includes the national A-teams of all FIFA member associations who play international matches. Not included in the calculation are matches played by junior teams or other representative national sides (such as the women's national team).

Taken into consideration for the ranking are all international-A match results over a time span of the last eight years:

World Cup finals matches
World Cup preliminary matches
FIFA Confederations Cup matches
Continental championship final matches
Continental championship preliminary matches
Friendly matches


Take the Friendly matches out and you may have some repectability to the rankings but they are a joke whilst they are considered.

Since you put it like that, I agree that the World Rankings should be no indicator of which teams will be seeded. There is a FIFA seedings system in place for the World Cup because according to Teletext we were seeded seventh on the morning of the Poland game, so you would hope that they stick to that for the tournament. I don't think we have a divine right to be seeded, but will be disappointed if we are not.

I think Slovakia might actually do the the Spaniards.
Although Spain always seem to disappoint at finals, who can forhet their comeback from 3-0 down to beat Yugoslavia in Euro 2000? One of the best matches I have ever seen.
