LM - Cole
CM - Lampard
CM - King
ST - Rooney
ST - Owen

I noticed Graham Taylor was calling for a 3-5-2 formation and wanted Sven to experiment now Qualification is in the bag.

But as Sven is going to pick 4-4-2 I'd go for,

Main reason is to give the lesser experienced players like Richardson, King and Wright-Phillips a competitive game just incase they are needed in the World cup due to injuries. I'd prefer Carrick or Parker over King in defensive midfield but as they aren't in the squad King will have to do, this I think will free up Lampard to play the kind of way he does for Chelsea. The less familiar players will all be playing for their place so should give 110%. Personally I'd give the Captaincy to Terry but I don't think it will matter too much anyway.

Gerry is injured Beerdude.

Like the midfield of King Cole, Lampshade and Short White-Flaps but I don't think Konchesky has done much since Red Dwarf so that's a no from me.

Cos it's the obvious team with the resources on offer for tonight.

Kim Milton Neilsen is reffing tonight and he'll be looking to make a name for himself as per usual and FIFA have not yet decided wether qualifying cards count towards the finals yet so there maybe good reasoning to rest anybody on a suspension too.

Young, SWP and King need games before the finals, but had Beckham been available Gerrard and Campbell been fit and , I'd have still give them a start tonight. I'd have started Richardson in place of Joe Cole anyway, cos I don't think Cole, should even be in the England squad. Rio should still be understudying to Terry and Sol unless he shows a marked improvement in attitude and in his game between now and the finals.

Ledley King has proven himself to be more than capable of performing for England at centre half and for his club as a central midfielder...

In any other era he would walk into the national side its just that now we are blessed with an abundance of world class centre halves...

If selected he will do a good job of that i have no doubt... He is one for the future too...

What about playing Rio in the holding role?
While I dont rate him as a centre-half, too nice for me, i realise he is good at bringing the ball from deep positions & can pass the ball well for a defensive player!

He doesnt play there though mate never has!! Carrick is a natural holding midfielder who just keeps getting better...King is also a proven hoding midfielder.. Doubt Rio could adapt to it at this level... Plus he doesnt have to..

At a push Alan Smith is another name....

Smith's looked more than capable in Man Yoos midfield this season. If he progresses in the role over the season he's a must have for the Squad for Germany, because taking him gives us an extra option up front too.

Why would you play a player that you have "NEVER rated"?

Why would you play a player in the holding role who you say "distributes the ball from the back, usually 5 yards to the side or back to the goalie"?

Why would you play someone you think is "some posing, poncing, over paid shirker"
