I was wondering how much money they need?

Frank Lampard is currently advertising the Sun; There is something almost seedy about it; watching a class player promoting merchandise that could do him more harm than good. No doubt they are paying him uddles of dosh, is it worth it?

His boss is promoting Samsung mobiles, although I have no idea where the status of these phones sit in the public psyche, I will hazard a guess it is much higher than the public's view of the Sun.

Do either of them need all this money?

Will it not damage Frank Lampard's image bearing in mind he is an England player and therefore a role model for young people. Some things are worth more than money.

Nobody can ever have enough security...

A footballers playing career is a short one... Fair play to em...Earn it while you can..

We all live to or beyond our means.. If you had the chance to earn more easy money you would ....

Kids see him as a role model..If him flogging his name to the Sun makes kids get off their arses to earn cash then thats fine by me...

This probably goes along way to explain the Liverpool's fans indifference to him when they played Chelsea the other week.

Yen, that was behind my thinking on this subject. It is not as though they are on the breadline or that they will not earn enough to keep them in a very comfortable lifestyle for the rest of their days, albeit a short career ( wish I had such a short lucrative career)

He is a class player, his agent needs to be discerning in what he promotes in my view, one interacts with the other. It would be awful for instance if fans started to associate him with the product.

Come on the scousers not liking the Sun because of Sheffield is not Lampards fault...

The world doesnt bow to the whims of Liverpudlians however sad.....

The list of no go areas would be massive if we looked at things which may cause offence to someone somewhere..

Most kit makers and kit sponsers would have to go for starters.....

bg
10-09-2005, 12:54 PM
no it was only part of my thinking...............just think for top class footballers and other top class sportsmen and women, they need to think how the product may influence how people see them.....

afterall that is why they want the person to advertise their product, so that people do associate the product with the status of the player.

But hes advertising the biggest selling newspaper in the country BG...Whats wrong with that... People on Merseyside still buy the paper...Not all blanket ban it...

Now if he was advertising the Gary Glitter and Jonathan King Kids fun days out club then i could see your point...

But hes not... Good marketing for the best selling paper in the country and good profiling by one of the countries best players...

bg
10-09-2005, 01:09 PM
just my view, but it makes me squirm, but then I wouldn't wipe my a*** on it I have too much respect for my anatomy;)

It may well be the 'best selling newspaper' in the land; just goes to show how much this country has dropped its standards. Their biased and inflammatory reporting on just about any subject influences the empty mind. I prefer a more balanced report so I can make my own mind up, rather than somebody shouting in my ear and in my face (metaphorically speaking) that this is the way I should think. However, I have not seen the Sun for a number of years, so no idea about their standard today.

Just wanted to open a debate on this subject, see what other people think and feel about it.

Surely you cannot have any view whatsoever on the Sun then, as you havent read it in Years...

Just as any City fan unable to go so far this season has no right to air their views on the teams performances..;)

Come on Spindarella lets hear it!!!!:D :D

I don't know why folk have such a dig at the Sun - as far as sports coverage goes its 2nd to none, the goals section ensures i buy it every Saturday and Monday!! Its entertainment - I don't think there's many people that take the news items in the Sun seriously.....and at the end of the day who gives a fook about what the scousers think? In fact i'd like to advertise it just to get up their noses!! ANY sympathy i had to the scousers because of Hillsboro' evaporated with the constant whinging, blaming and compo claims!! As justics Popplewell said in his memoirs when looking back at the Bradford fire - "its a shame not all fans have the same quiet dignity and decoram as the Bradford fans showed" (or words to that effect) Obviously having a dig at the Pool fans....They'd do well to learn what respect and "getting on with life" is all about and if Lampard gets up their noses by advertising the Sun, fair play to him - i wish i could annoy the whinging, moaning, scruffy, thieving scouse bastards in the same way!!!

I think its time The Sun showed a bit of flange on page three. No pubes of course but a nice smooth shaven puss would look ever so nice.
I know they are quite rare but those funny looking hairless Cats dont half make me laugh.

bg
10-09-2005, 01:34 PM
can't argue, and no I am not going to go buy a copy just to make the point Twiddledum:D

I am coming from a historical perspective;)

No idea about the sports section KB, and you would be surprised the amount of people who believe what they read in the Sun!!!

Get most of my sports reads from the Times, which also has an excellent Monday supplement, and online.

ChuckleBantam
10-09-2005, 01:37 PM
That would be the Times, that is owned and published by the same people that own and publish the Sun then?

bg
10-09-2005, 01:40 PM
correct, and your point is?

ChuckleBantam
10-09-2005, 01:46 PM
That before trying to make your point about Lampard advertising the Sun (which he is every right to do and good on him for doing so) that you were too dumb to realise the fact that the very organisation you are trying to belittle for previous misdemeanors (which nobody gives a fook about anymore) actually is the same organisation that publishes the paper that you claim you read. So in criticising folk who read or folk who advertise goods by this organisation you are actually criticising yourself and are not bright enough to realise.

*Chucks drums his fingers whilst waiting for her to run to the mods and try get him banned for highlighting her stupidity*

bg
10-09-2005, 01:58 PM
oh no not the drumming of fingers; think you will have sore finger ends before you work it out; and I thought you were bright.........yep I can be wrong sometimes.

Oh go on then just for you seeing as I used to class you as a friend.

I have known that The Times and The Sun come from the same owner right from when it happened, which would be ages ago, probably when you will still popping your adolescent spots.....

It wasn't the owner I was concerned with.............but......... the Product He isn't advertising the Times or Sky Television either, he is advertising the Sun

how many people then Chucks the Brain will start to associate Frank Lampard with the Times as well as the Sun? now don't break into a sweat and start to wonder how to argue and score points yet again. You are being argumentative just for the sake of it.

ChuckleBantam
10-09-2005, 02:22 PM
Yup, as I thought, not very bright at all.

I don't think anybody even connects Frank Lampard with the Sun anyway. Did you spend all the game yesterday, saying that oooh good pass by The Sun advertising Frank Lampard? I know it never crossed my mind once.

The point you were making was, that Lampard was (In your opinion, no fecker elses) advertising something that would probably do him no favours imagewise and given he is loaded already, did he need to do it. Then highlighting the Sun's stance on Hillsborough as a reason why it could (In Your Opinion) be bad for his image.

Then you claimed your reading matter of Choice was the Times, which the people responsible for creating and issuing a product that would damage image of anybody chosing to read or advertise it, also print. So that means that those people who put the Sun onto the consumer marketplace who in your world, are pushing a shoddy, product that you wouldn't wipe your arse on (your words) are also responsible for giving us the Times, which in your world is a bastion of truth and honesty Then you go on to say,the fact that the Times doesn't get a quarter of it's sister paper's readership is a reflection of the uncivilised and common society that you see yourself above being part of (Though, If you were part of it, you'd probably have a more accurate view of the woes of the City you call home)

In short. The money Frank Lampard gets for advertising Britains Biggest Selling Newspaper comes from the same pot of money you put into when you buy the Times. So if Frank Lampard is being offensive (to you)by taking a payment from an organisation to advertise a product that (in your world) is common and distasteful then you shouldn't give your money to that cause by purchasing from the same organisation, should you?

Personally I like the Sun, I have bought that and the Mirror ever day of my working life. The reason I like the Sun so much is the Sport reporting and the Tits. I freely and proudly admit to this, because I am in no way pretentious enough to claim I read a paper just because of it's intelectual reputation.

bg
10-09-2005, 02:34 PM
oh I didn't think that it was pretentious to prefer reading a balanced report rather than viewing 'brushed up tits' I stand corrected by the Brain of Britain.

This wasn't about money either, oh knowledgable one, it was about the influence England and club players have on young boys and girls who may in the future want to play football, and I for one would not want them reading that crap, and I think you are a case in point, in case anybody was in any doubt.

Now rather than boring eveybody to death with your constant bickering with me, I will end my involvment in this thread. Unless of course you are going to continue to make inflamatory comments about my brain activity, then I will; at which point the mods will close it down.

Ahhhhh Biddy (we can all do nicknames dear) was being IRONIC and not THICK all along.

Only trouble is love, you unfortunately have to have the "irony" in your posts pointed out to you.

I think the only Irony you should bother about dear is the one you fill with watery, to make steamy to press the clotheys At least you might have a bit of understanding of that subject. Footie and politics you seem to struggle with darlin'

bg
10-09-2005, 05:11 PM
oh yes we can all have nicknames Twiddledee, or have you changed to Twiddledum; dee was feeling a bit p'd off with always being referred to as dum.

Now we start with all the sexists stuff to try and put me in my place, because like a good woman should I won't shut up, ha ha ha

oh god I just realised what this reminds me of, it is like when you were a kid playing with insects, and you suddenly stopped because you realised it was an unfair contest.........

'BG puts her poking stick back in the shed and leaves the insects to their own devices:D'

here is a joke for you

A man is rushed to the emergency room, and his family gather round in the waiting area; after much waiting around, the Doctor emerges from the emergency room and very gravely tells the family that it is very serious;' he will die if he does not receive a brain transplant within the next 24 hours' There was a silent hush, and the family were distraught. Eventually one of the family members asks the Doctor, how much does a brain transplant cost?
The Doctor said 'it costs £5,000 for a male brain and £500 for a female brain; once again there was a hush, the men in the group could barely contain their sniggering, until one of them couldn't stand it any longer and asked the Doctor ' why is it so much more for a male brain' at which point there were more guffaws from the males in the family. The Doctor smiled and repled ' we have to mark down the female brain as it has been used'

:D

now p** off;) or I really will use your balls as fluffy dice;)
