Lincoln's Richard Butcher is wanted by a host of clubs, according to his agent.

Butcher has been in outstanding form this season, but Lincoln's failure to win the League Two play-off final means the 24-year-old is now considering his future.

The player's representative Richard Cody has now confirmed there is a great deal of interest in his client.

"There is a massive amount of interest in Richard from teams in the Championship down to the league he is in at the moment," Cody said.

"Clubs like Bradford, Oldham and Rotherham are all looking at him and we had an enquiry from Preston earlier in the season.

"He's a strong midfielder and even though people think Lincoln are a direct team, he can get the ball down and play."

When their agents qoute Bradford as an interested club, they're usually desperate!

Saying that, who'd heard of Pepper, Blake or Edhinio?

There's Bargains to be had in the lower leagues!

Theres plenty of clubs in the wrong divisions desperate to get out...

So theres bound to be better worthy players just waiting for that chance to get out as well..

I'd heard of Pepper and Bridge-wilkinson, but not Blake, or even Darren Moore, and they were both great.

He looks useful at Lincoln, but you have to ask if we really need him.

We could get rid of Crooks for 10 million quid to Chelsea. They'll be space for this Butcher guy then!

never heared of him either but if he's a centre back then he could be good cover for Bower and Wethers.

I know Chelski have a fair amount of money to splash around and Todd wouldnt sell Crooks for less than £25 million!

don't think hes had a bad season this year, sure he's not been a world beater but hes done a decent job and people often forget his crucial challenges but never miss his miss kicks into touch.

I honestly don't think he is a very good player. Now whether he was not fit or what I have no idea, but I watched him, at best he was average, but most of the time he tried to impersonate a traffic cop in the middle i.e. directing traffic mainly telling other players where they should be, rather than getting involved himself. When he did, he invariably gave away a free kick, because he was too slow. When he was having a good game by his standards, he managed to get in some cruicial tackles in mid-field, but no where near as often as you would want from a midfielder.

On current form he is a plodder, and he would need to improve 100% before I would include him in our team.

Just my view boys;)

Here we go again...

At least four Football League clubs are chasing the signature of Oldham midfielder Richard Butcher.

The 25-year-old joined the Latics on a free transfer from Lincoln last summer but returned to Sincil Bank for a month's loan last season.

Despite publicly stating his unhappiness at Oldham, Butcher ended the season as a regular at Boundary Park.

Latics boss John Sheridan has, however, confirmed Butcher can leave and Rotherham, Peterborough, Leyton Orient and Bournemouth are leading the chase.

Butcher's agent, Richard Cody, said: "I'm talking to a number of clubs at this precise moment, but nothing has been agreed.

"He has a contract at Oldham for another season but there are interested clubs and Oldham are willing to let him go. I'm very pleased in the amount of interest there is."
