Whats everyone's 2nd team? Everyone's got one no matter how much they love City!! And whats the reasons?
It won't surprise anyone to know that the mighty Gers are me 2nd team, I always have been a bluenose since a nipper. Number of reasons - the British (and Loyalist) connection (red, white and blue etc), the fact that they were made up of mainly English players in my youth, the rivalry they have with the other half of the "old firm" (which IMO is the biggest derby game in world football), the friendliness of their fans when you visit (especially when they know your a City fan - the Stuart McCall connction) and family connections!
They are also the most successful professional domestic club side in the world (51 league titles as opposed to Celtics 35), Ibrox is one of only 12 football stadia in the world to have UEFA 5* status, and IMO the club are well up there with Man Yoo, Real Madrid (and admittedly) Celtic as one of the giants of world football!
The Shippers travel club have teamed up with the Harrogate true blues supporters club and are hoping to arrange a few trips up to Ibrox next season (on non City match days obviously) - i'd challenge anyone to make the trip and not have the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end when your stood in a packed Ibrox (50,000) with "Rule Brittania" and the "theme from the great escape" blasting out on their excellent P.A. system, whilst 2 big union jacks are waved on the pitch prior to the teams coming out!!

Celtic. Not for political, religious or because Daddy told me to reasons. But like Stuart, cos of King Kenny.
Also have soft spots for Sheffield United and Liverpool (hence the sore head last Thursday morning)
Gretna
Rangers are far superior to Celtic in my mind though!

Liverpool without a doubt; since the 1970's they were just awesome, glad to see they are back in action.
Used to like Man U as well, but their manager and their antics have really turned me right off them.
But all my passion and support go to the Bantams, and always will.

I have to admit to having a soft spot for the scousers (both teams) myself - the 1st full proper kit i had was the yellow Liverpool strip - about 1983 ish if i remember rightly!!
I have to say though that i think one of the reasons that Liverpool are remembered with such fondness by everyone is because they no longer dominate the English game, Man Yoo generally have been disliked the last decade or so because of their success - when i was a young un in the 80's i seem to remember Liverpool being held in the same regard at that time!!

Man U. So what!
I like Blackburn, Since I saw them win promotion to the premier league under Kenny Dalglish. I followed them closely and thought they did well in there first season up.
I wasn't suprised that they won the premier league title, Many say they bought the the title but don't all the teams who win the top leagues? they have the money to spend and spent it wisely.
Sutton for £5 million snubbing man utd .... classic buy! had Kenny not left Blackburn I reckon they would be a bigger club today.
I'll never forget liverpool and blackburn fans chanting about blackburn beating Man Utd to the title..... Well done West Ham!!!!!!!!!!

Always had a soft spot for Spurs since the early 80s when they dominated cup football..
Back then they had such a great side and are truely the biggest underachievers in the Premiership...
I always look for their results and would love them to turn all that hope and expectation into a good League top four finish... Cannot see it for a while yet but Jol looks as though he can produce good football so you never know...

For me it chages depending on where I live etc. For a long time it was Wycombe Wanderers and when O'Neil came along and they got into the League and won the FA trophy it was great. Still have a few mates who support them and I watched them beat Wimbledon in the Cup a few years back.
A mate of mine got a job at Spurs so I used to go an see them a lot in the 1990's. They are nice people at that club, except El Tel, and they always made me feel very welcome. I defy anyone o watcha team on a regular basis and not feel some affinity with them. Livign in South East London I suppose I should be supporting Palace, Millwall or Charlton, but none really appeal. Now I suppose its AFC Wimbledon who I have seen a few times.

Ey up Simon, i used to watch Wycombe Wanderers myself when i used to be in the RAF, i was posted at strike command just round the corner, they'd just come up to the league then, nice little ground - not a bad town either!!
Don't blame you for not watching palace - reet sheeitehole that ground is, Charlton would be good to watch though - not one of the big boys but a well established club now!!

and Liverpool for me as well, they were the team in the 70s when I first got into football, and when me and a mate went to Majorca in the mid 70s we met up with a bunch of scousers.....a great set of lads who really knew how to enjoy themselves. We watched the ECF in a bar on Ibiza last week and the wife who has only ever been to one football match before said "are all games like this, no wonder you like it so much" football not for girls! ...........yes love are you coming to City next season!!!? Oh and all the english football fans were shouting for the reds except for one L@@ds fan from Goole!! says it all really.

Crystal Palace for me , the team local to where I was born - always want them to win apart from when they play City then sentiment goes out of the window .
Apart from that , I always like to see Halifax doing well.

plus the Palace fans generally have their feet on the ground and know all about struggling financially - might be a sssshitteeeee ground KB ( If anyone can find the fekker that is lol !) - but always a good atmosphere In there - I remember going down to watch them play Manure years back when Just promoted - a 1-1 draw .

Ah Matt we shall have to have a chinwag about the marvelous Wycombe nightlife, should take all of five minutes!
Trouble with Charlton is actually getting tickets, although it should be easier when they expand the ground to 40,000.
Would advise any one to go to an AFC Wimbledon game, home or away. Always a good atmosphere and cheap to get in. You can stand up and have a beer while watching sometimes. just like football used to be, but without the fighting.
The opponents of Leeds United are always supported by me!

Would not support them in the glory days of City been in the premiership, but do follow them and occasionally go to games. Last game was at Old trafford a few years back when Arsenal beat Moo Utd 2-0 in the FA cup quarter final, mainly remembered for Ryan giggs mazey run, dummied the keeper then sent the ball in the stretford end with the goal at his mercy:o

Rangers are my second team
have been since 1977 - my best mate runs the Hearthill true Blues - based in Broxburn and when Stu had his testimonial we had 23 jocks sleeping ( use the term loosley) in the house.
Have been to 14 old firm games and 4 cup finals, three european cup games abroad and lots of league games in Scotland. ( so i would say that i qualify for being a Rangers supporter)
Herta Berlin - for the Four years I served there - when the Bundes League was only half of Germany.
I also always look out for Halifax and BPA - cos of their City connections.
I do want any British team to do well in Europe as well.

I think you all know who my first love is :D
I'm also a passionate Celtic fan, have been since I was a lad and not because of religious or political ideology, just good old fashioned glory seeking jump: I was taken to a Celtic game when I was 7 and they've been my team in Scotland ever since. In fact this was my first ever live game of footy I was taken to. But I do have a soft spot for Falkirk and Hibs as well. Falkirk being the town closest to where my mum was born that has a league team and Hibs because I have family that support them as well and it's always a good craic going to Easter Road especially on derby days when they're playing the Edinburgh Huns :p
I also have a soft spot for Barcelona.
Out of any of the contenders for the Premiership i'd rather see Man. Utd win it. Growing up in the 70's most of the kids at school followed L***s or Liverpoo and being a Town fan it pissed me off no end so being the awkward bugger that I am, I developed a liking for Man. Utd to piss the L***s and Liverpoo glory seekers off. I'm of the opinion that you should support your home town club and the only excuse you have not to is if you're family comes from another place and you've been brought up supporting their team.

i agree with the polak there ,man u to win everything because i know the scousers an leeds fans are gutted.
On the OMB a few months ago I asked for suggestions for a second team for my son, a team who he could see on TV occasionally. King Billly put in a good argument for Rangers, so they're now my official second team.
My grandparents were Bolton fans so I went to see a few of their games when I was younger. Loved Frank Worthington and big Sam especially.
Others I have a soft spot for: Wigan, Tottenham, Pompey, Sunderland and of course, the mighty, the one and only Bangkok Port Authority.

My second team without a shadow of a doubt has to be Leeds United, I listen intently to the radio for their latest score, I watch sky sports soccer special to see how their doing, I read their match reports, i take great interest in their signings and developments at Elland road, in fact I'm so obsessed with my unhealthy twisted hatred of them that I know far more about their club than the plastic Bradford based fans of them.

I don't really have a second team I'm mad about but I do follow Park Avenue's results. My grandparents used to live 5 mins walk from Park Avenue and it's my dads team.
Apart from that I follow teams where my favourite players play so at the moment it would be Liverpool (Peter Crouch).
The quality of football in Thailand?
Technically it's good. All the kids play a game here called Takraw, do you know it? It's like volleyball but you have to use your feet and a small wicker ball, so Thai lads have good ball skills. But, they don't have a good understanding of the game and they aren't very physical at all. That's not to say they aren't strong but they seem to shy away from the more hurly burly stuff. They'd get battered in the English game, but, they could be trained to improve those weaker areas I suppose.
You know, I've had a little idea in my head for the past few months that if City can get promoted then I might be able to wrangle some sponsorship money out of a Thai business, if City could take on a Thai player. Maybe sponsor a tour over here too. Just an idea for now, but you never know. I think it's possible. Thais are football crazy and Bradford City is known because of its time in the Premiership. Zico, who went to Huddersfield, is a legend over here now so whoever was sent would be a valuable marketing tool for any Thai company. Also I have contacts with someone connected to the Thai Olympics commitee who is giving me advice. However, it won't be easy to get sponsorship money for a League 1 team, so we have to get up first!

Wolves.
I spent 4 years studying in Wolverhampton, living for the first year in halls of residence just a stone's throw from the Molineux. A bizarre stadium at the time, with the vast main stand being about 100 yards away from the touchline, a huge all-standing South Stand (I think it's the South Stand anyway), and the other 2 sides of the ground were condemned! While I was there, Bull and Mutch were the formidable strike partnership that helped them to 2 promotions in successive seasons. Since then, they've got themselves a fantastic stadium and the supporters are very passionate.
