He must be off to meet Cheltenham today then, as reported on one of their sites earlier in the week - no doubt using their training facilities - couple of mights in a nice hotel for him and his bro'
We'll just have to wait - although I reckon we will know Monday if he's coming to VP along with "our kid"!

Should he sign and not produce the goods I can see the crowd turning on him - Stuart must rate him! I thought Stuart and Jakes were doing a lot of scouting last season and find it surprising - other targets were not identified who could be available, on a par, we could afford to bring in and perhaps on lower wages. I would like to see a forward that gives other options someone with a bit of height, mobile and a big build who could put himself about giving defenders something to thnk about - a Adebola type!
Lets hope if Boulding becomes a City player he makes this wait worthwhile!

Theres having time to choose your options and taking the piss and Bouldings certainly doing the latter IMO :(
He'd have to hit the ground running and bag a few goals if he signs to prevent the crowd turning on him.

For me Boulding has spoilt the plans for City this close season - had we secured his services things could settle down for all concerned. If I was a player currently training with City I would not be impressed - if Stuart had told me wanted me as a player with committment to play for the club. Boulding it would appear does not fall in to this category and is undermining Stuart in what he said he wanted of players pulling on a city shirt. He has not done much for team bonding and seems to fall in to the category tail wagging the dog!

To be honest I don't think either Beckett or Boulding will sign now. Both have pissed about, if they really wanted to sign it wouldn't have taken them so long to decide. If the rumour that Boulding will only sign if we sign his brother is true, then he should've been told where to go along time ago!
My only worry is that because we've been trying to sign these two for so long, we've end up panic signing someone when they decide not to sign for us!

Can we survive with just Thorne, Topp and Conlon? Backup in the shape of Daley and Osbourne? The way the squad is shaped it looks like we have plenty enough midfielders to often play 451.
Do we really want to simply bring in a leftover striker (that nobody else has snapped up I mean) at this stage?
Do we really want to bring in a loan striker?
Personally at this stage of pre season I'd like to see us trawl the non leagues and bring in a few young potentially promising strikers and give them a good trial. We may end up getting a gem on a free and on tiny wages who will be happy to play backup as he learns his trade. I'd much rather us gamble on that than on a loan which isn't going to benefit us much short or long term.

Spot on Dutchbantam, our season is hanging in the balance because we will be hoping Thorne can either score the goals or stay fit and we cant bank on either.
We will not go up with the current squad in fact we will be looking at a solid mid-table finish at best. Make no mistake we are now scraping around trying to find a goalkeeper and a striker and the latter is down to pissing around with a player who had no intention of signing. If we end up with Facey or some loan player that fails to hit the net (as often happens) the brown stuff will hit the fan. The inclusion of Jacobs and Wethers was embarrassing to say the least and today’s line up is predominantly a youth game. I’m less than confident about our chances to be honest, but hope im wrong.

Oddly enough the truth isnt always a walk in the park. The fact is that we need strengthening in a few areas and the clock is ticking. McCall said that the first few weeks of last season set the tone for the whole season, all im saying is that we are running the risk of the same thing happening now. The first game is three weeks away and considering McCall will be in Scotland for a week (at the same time Lawn is in Mexico) we have even less time to get the players in we need.
It would be easy to sit here and say all is well but clearly we are quite a distance from the promotion winning team we all hope for.
Sorry and all.

Where are we actually short? Quality striker to complement the 3 we have, 1st choice keeper and reserve right back.
As it seems Brandon is in as LM then thats the whole midfield well covered (I'm including Sharry and Horne in the cover department going on the rave reviews they are always getting). Milton sounds to be a pretty handy understudy for right back so that could be that one wrapped up early. So the defence would be sorted (though I'd rather have a better understudy at left back than Hecky but we'll survive).
So 2 positions to fill assuming Colgan aint signing.
Don't think we are far short really. We might not have great depth in numbers but I'll take quality over quantity any day of the week. Numbers we have in the youth team and first year pro's.

For me it's just a case of sorting out the keeper and another striker. As i have previously stated (and got slated for) I don't see how we can rely on Conlon and Topp to score the goals alongside Thorne (assuming Thorne manages to play over 30 games). Relying on someone who is purely a target man and someone else who has played a few games without actually completing 90 minutes and not looked like scoring does not fill me with optimism (and before the "we love Topp because he's a little bit different" brigade start jumping on my back i'm not saying he wont be a decent player for us, but he isn't a 20 goal a season man).
Like others on this page i would tell Boulding and his bag carrying brother to sod off now.
As for the other positions, sounds like this Milton kid is looking quite promising and for me there isn't much point rushing into signing loan players when these can be done anytime through the season.

Til last season his goal tally wasn't exactly outstanding...
To say we've signed Brandon, Lee, Arnison, McLaren, McLaughlin, Evans and possibly this Milton lad on free's is a very encouraging start though. We've not had to dip into the funds yet and although there won't be loads of cash available for transfer fees we can still be optimistic in that all our options aren't exhausted yet in the search for a striker - Look at the difference in quality and the fee paid between Beagrie and Ashley Ward.

Good points mate, i reckon with Rhys Evans, Milton Turner as cover for Arnison and a decent striker, the squad looks stronger than last year easily. If the money is spent wisely on a striker and not just a name!! all the better.
I think he might give Korey Nix a 6 month or month to month deal to see if he can hack it like Kyle did last year.

I'm sure they are working on getting the right striker in - a couple more options upfront and on the left , along with Evans and maybe this Milton lad - well we will defo be stronger than last season - maybe not in numbers (13 out was it? and maybe 8 in to replace by season kick off) but in players capable of playing 1st team footie and getting us promotion.

I was actually a fan of deano, don't think its any coincidence that since he left our club have continued to descend whilst deano has been at clubs in the ascendancy.
Those who argued for him to leave have to face the fact that we are now in a worse league position than when he left - although people will argue mitigating circumstances, on cold hard facts, he's about to play in the premier league and we are about to start in league 2!

Sure, I would sooner see someone new come in e.g the lad from leeds, than deano. Still feel it's unfair to flippantly discredit his influence and was pointing out that objectively and statistically we performed better with him in the team.
That's not to say I didn't think he was at times selfish, petulant and irritating - but he is a striker not a political leader, how much brains does one require really? I simply think he provided a function that as yet has not been adequately replaced (i.e goalscoring en masse).

Cheltenham Town have lost out to Bradford City in the race to sign Michael Boulding.
The older Boulding brother had agreed personal terms with Cheltenham before a change of heart led to him agreeing a deal with the Bantams.
The 32-year-old striker had agreed terms after meeting with Robins boss Keith Downing on Monday, the deal was complicated by the fact that younger brother Rory was part of the package.
It is understood that chance to remain close to his Sheffield home has led to Boulding's change of mind.

Rest of the story....
Cheltenham Town have lost out to Bradford City in the race to sign Michael Boulding.
The older Boulding brother had agreed personal terms with Cheltenham before a change of heart led to him agreeing a deal with the Bantams.
The 32-year-old striker is recovering from an ankle injury suffered in training at Bradford, he was due to receive the all-clear after a scan on Tuesday and then put pen to paper at Cheltenham
"He had a scan on his ankle onTuesday after he turned it in training at Bradford." said Cheltenham manager Keith Downing
"He informed us that if the scan was all clear that he would sign for us.
"However we had a phone call at twenty past seven last night from his father to say that he was signing for Bradford City.
"It was stressed that it was a personal decision and nothing to do with money."
It is also likely that the younger Boulding brother, Rory, will sign a deal with Bradford.
Downing will now continue his search for a new striker to replace the departed Steven Gillespie after missing out on Boulding and Gary Hooper who joined Scunthorpe United last month.

Barry C 359 APPEARANCES 95 GOALS
Boulding 266 APPEARANCES 82 GOALS
Now there is not such a big gap is there.
You now with Fat Barry being so shite and Boulding being super class :wet::wet::wet::wet::wet::wet:

Is it not a case that Boulding has played at a higher level than Conlon and that is why he goal ratio is only slightly better?
Anyway, we can debate all day the fact of the matter is he comes in and scores goals, no one will give give a crap about his inability to take a decision. He doesn't score he will be given stick like Conlon but inflated due to his indecision.

Maybe his old man is his business manager - who knows or cares really - he will be a good squad player for us (with something to prove) when / if he signs lol

Apparently he doesn't need to play football to earn a living as he has business interests outside of football.....
I wish Bradford City fans would realise that Bradford City is not as important to everyone else as it is to them....... We're a league 2 club like any other

What happens, when a month into the new season Boulding decides he doesnt want to be here?
Two year contract down the drain, signing on fee wasted and then having to search for another striker.
Great, lets sign him:wet:Tell me how many times in the past thirty years have we had a player who has scored 25 goals in a season.
