First XI:
1) ??? new keeper
2) Arnisen
3) Lee (c)
4) Clarke
5) Lukey
6) Colbeck
7) Bullock
8) McLaren
9) Brandon
10) Topp
11) Thorne
Regular Subs:
12) McLaughlin
13) Bower
14) Daley
15) Hecky
16) Nix
17) ??? new striker
18) Conlon
19) Densmore ???
Backup / loan out:
20) Convey
21) Ainge
22) Taylforth
23) Sharry
24) Bellamy
25) Osbourne
Assuming we get a decent keeper in and a decent new striker this is a very strong looking first XI, great bench, plenty of variation, flexibility and the backup players might be ok too (at least just for backup).
I'd expect a few of the backup players for be farmed out on loan again this season. It's make or break time for the likes of Ainge, Osbourne and Taylforth.
I still would not mind seeing a proven left footed left winger sign, think that would be the icing on top of what on paper will be the strongest squad in the division by far. But even without that it's pretty damned good. If we don't make top 7 they should all be taken out and shot. Outside top 3 and I will be dissapointed.
Densmore hasnt signed yet

I dont think many on here realise how important we need a decent left midfielder to complete the squad capable of automatic promotion.
I only hope SM does or we may have to settle for a top 7 finish and the lottery of the play-offs!
If Macca and most fans are pinning their hopes on the likes of Daley, Nix and even Brandon to be effective on the left then they will be in for a big let down :(
We need a Left midfielder as much as we need a goalie and more than we need another striker IMO.

If Macca thinks around another 4 might come in, how many loanees?

Spot on i also think we need a lb hecky isnt up to the job and i wouldnt throw dutchy's wet dream in yet
Hecky got a lot better towards the back end of the season. The thing that made him good in his first stint was his steadiness and I think he was getting that back. Hope he hits the ground running again at start of next season.
I remember Taylforth played on the left against Donny and despite it being a woeful performance from most of the team he showed glimpses of decency, maybe Stu will be giving him a try this season.

I think he'll put Daley or Brandon out on the left (despite them not being able to fill that role correctly), because I can't see Mcclaren not being in the starting line up.

We definetly need another striker in the squad to guve us more options, plus of course a keeper and yes a left sided player - problem is McCall will have a budget to work to and luxuries like Daley won't come cheap...................

The sort of striker we need is a small pacy guy, leon knight would perfectly fit the bill!

I'd rather be an Oliver Optimistic than a Percy Pessimistic or a Peter PutDown.

As stated above a LM is imperative, until one is signed Daley would be my first choice on the left with Brandon on the right. That also gives the option to bring on Joco for something a bit different and move Brandon upront (he and Daley also have the ability to switch which i am sure McCall will be using that to the full this year).
I fully expect 5 or 6 players still to come in though, before the end of August 2 more perms, a couple of loanees and a trialist or 2!

I could not agree more, Daey can doa job out there, but he is not effective enough for us to win the division outright. If we want to do that a LM should be a priority over adding fat Beckett to the books!!

Daley can doa job out there!!
That doesn't mean he can do a good job now does it !
From what we have seen last season, I believe a true left sided player is needed. Like the relegation season two years ago; we had no true AM L player, with CT playing Lewis there, and JJ on the right- all the opposition did was stick two men on JJ and we were not nearly as effective.
We could have a danger of a similar one-dimentional team this year. I think we have the quality to rise above that, but a true title-challenging side would have that true left sided player too, I think.
