I've only just started betting on the horses again, lost a little on the Euros with France and the Czechs letting me down in a couple of accumilators. Have £10 on Holland to win it at 14/1 though! :)
The thing is BM, it seems like whenever I post my picks on here they never win, so I tend not to anymore (superstition and all that). But FYI my money will be on DUKE OF MARMALADE (WIN) and ASK (EW) in the Prince of Wales Stakes tomorrow! tup:

Just 50? I think you have underestimated there, I was once on the other side of the counter and I know it's a mug's game, I've seen people so addicted they will even bet their last 20p after having been lumping on the hundreds all day. That was the hard part about working in the betting shops, it was your job to take the money not philosophise about the impact it could have on that person's life.
Still, if you treat it like a bit of fun and don't bet what you don't have then where's the harm in it.

Though i often did, and still do to some extent.
I think we would agree that there is a need for philosophical inquiry besides a downright liking of it for some of us ... this pure insatiable curiosity coupled with a desire for knowledge. Do you think though in this desire to understand life, pursue answers, that ‘life’ is lost? This begs the question what is life ... thinking about it *or* experiencing/living it? Does philosophy lead us to a fuller life and/or deter us from actual living? Depending upon what life is ... I'm also tempted to ask what is our purpose?
Thanks for that SFBjawdrop:

I can't imagine ever going that far. I don't usually bet big but with events like Ascot I usually set a limit of about £100 and once it's gone it's gone. I've won almost £500 over the last couple of days, and it'l take a long time for me to lose it all again to the bookies!
I'm only going with small EWs today:
2.30
SPIN CYCLE (EW) 10/1
3.05
ARTHURS GIRL (EW) 11/1
3.45
GEORDIELAND (EW) 10/1
4.20
SIBERIAN TIGER (EW) 40/1
5.30
RAMONA CHASE (EW) 20/1

Been there, seen it, done it and bought the T-shirt :(
Its ok having good days/weeks or even months but however much you win you'll just put it and more on another bet!
Your better off keeping your money in your pocket ;)

I started gambling on the Gee Gees when i bought my first house.
I was that skint that by the time i'd paid all the bills ect.... me and rlass had about a tenner between us!
So I decieded to start backing horses, if i lost so what?, if we won then maybe we could go out for a drink or meal that weekend?
Thing Is, we had beginners luck and seemed to be up most weekends in them days, the more disposable income i got though, getting better jobs ect... the less i seemed to win!
Suppose It was natures way of evening things out????
Dont bother now, only If i go on a trip to the races.
2.30......south central
3.05 .....cape amber
3.45 ...... coastal path
4.20 ....... Hurricane Hymnbook (e/w)
4.55 ........ Moynahan
5.30 ...... Colony

:D More profit today Gary. 3 places from horses with double figure odds returned a nice profit again. Nowhere near as much as the last two days but I hardly put anything on today. I'm over £500 in profit for the week now though! tup:
I think I'm going to give it a rest tomorrow, don't fancy much at all so will save the cash for Saturday! However saying that, it depends how lucky I am at the casino tonight! ;)
