A superb game of football tonight, it had everything. Good goals, lucky goals, woodwork, superb defending, sending off, penalties. Amazing and a credit to English Football, it just shows the Premier League is the best league in the world! jump:

Sickening watching the Man Yoo "fans" coming in their pants at a Wankashire team winning tdwn:

Any Yorkshire man who supports a team from over the pennines wants shooting at dawn IMO :(

I was sat in my living room scratching my head as to how it was being coined a classic... the first half was dire save for a 10 minute spell just before half time. The second half much better and then extra time was decent but I think the 'quality' was heightened by the occassion a bit.

I actually felt sorry for Chelsea for a split second as they probably deserved to win it but then I came to my senses.

I still can't accept how these multi millionaire players can bottle it when the crunch comes. I know that we went through this after the World Cup, but Lampard deserves his pay being docked. It is reported that the win is worth around 85 million pounds to Man Utd club and a further 10 million to the city itself. Thats how much he has cost his club. Am I being a bit tough? Ronaldo------what can I say? that would be the worst attempt at a penalty I have ever seen. I reckon Parrot or GB could have done better.Having said that,it was worth it for me to get out of bed at 6am today! Cheers.

I was torn to be honest... not between the two teams so much but wether to bother watching at all.
Yes an 'English' team won and indeed the play was a good advertisment for the Premier league but being 'old school' I can't get over-excited about a bunch of foreigners playing under the English/British flag.
More than 50% of players on the pitch were not British FFS!

Something deep inside me though says "always give your support to a home club when in European competition" and I have always done so... even when the scum were playing under O'Dreary.. I guess you can't take the natianal pride out of the man.
But it is hard these days with the majority of players on the pitch being aliens.

If Chelski were playing a foreign team last night they would have had my support but as they are a London club I sided with Man U.

All in all though it was an enjoyable game to watch.

Good advertisement for the game? I dont think so to be honest. The ref was being harrassed for every decision made, especially by Chelsea players, this included corners and throwings which is a disgrace Joe Cole. The amount of diving was unbelievable, upon diving, half of them clutched there head in apparent agony when the impact was no where near the head! (except scholes and makelele). Drogba was slapping like a woman and in between all this was 1 good goal, a really lucky goal and a penalty slip!

The reason it's being coined a classic was not because of end to end action. Before a ball was kicked, the game would've been; purely for the fact it was captivating. I didn't take my eyes off the game for a minute except for when I went to the bog.

Great night I must say, although I do feel a bit for J.T. slipping but then again, David Beckham fluffed one too in an important game.

Was anyone realy thinking it was going to be as good as that ?

I thought at the best it would be a bit better than last years FA cup final with so much riding on it

It turned out to be a far game than i expected better than some of the shite served up in recent years :)

I missed the first half as was on GTA 1V, more appeal playing that I'm afraid - saw half an hour of the second and the penalties - felt for Terry a bit when he slipped - that apart i got sick of the close ups of all the spitting, the hassling of the ref, the handbags that led to the sending off and trying to claculate how much that lot earnt a year.
Good on Bobby Charlton for leading the team up - now he was a class player and a true gent, unlike a lot of the twots on display - Lampard excepted who was a credit to his family.

From a footballing point of view it was absolutely dire. Both teams had spells when they were the better team but neither of them really shone. I'd probably say Chelsea deserved to win it over all considering the 2 chances they had that hit the woodwork.

I'd have loved to see Terry let Vidic go because they way he reacted to Drogba's pat on the cheek he looked like he was ready to smack him. Had he let him go the chances are it would have descended into an all out brawl and we could have ended up with 9 against 9 which would have made the shoot out really interesting.
