Considering the hype and "expectations " with the appointment of Macca as a "newbie" in the managerial world what would you consider to be a satisfactory end of season position for the team this year.
We where generally in 11th Place under Todd - the football was dire and we where sh1t
what position would you consider to be good enough to pass his first season in charge of a 1st Team.......
and what are your expectations from what you have seen this year for next?
IS mid table going to be good enough on May 1st 2009

Realistically anywhere in the top half now - but I'd like us to finish 8th if possible - play offs such a long way off now.
Big overhaul of squad needed to turn City into auto promotion contenders for 08/09 - I'm confident SM and WJ will get the players needed.
Mid Table would be okay - just.

Predicted we'd finish 10th and I still stand by that.
I was hoping that we might have bounced straight back up but my head told me we do things the hard way! :(

We finished eighth last season on goal difference, and believe me, it's not sweet finishing so close to the play-offs and thinking 'what if'.
Damn you Richard Lambert...! :flame:

I reckon next season is the one to be rightly judged on. Anything in the top half this season will be ok for me.

Mid table for me this year and at least play off next
The way the season started I thought we would struggle at the foot of the table -- but Stu and his crew are learning all the time -- the board also seem to be moving in the right direction -- so fingers crossed for next year -- but football is a funny old game

Never expected anything more than mid-table mediocrity.
Don't raise your expectations too soon for next year. I always go with the line that mid-table is good enough it means we haven't gone down. If we challenge the play-offs next year that would be a pleasant surprise but I don't expect it looking at how the team has been set up this year. If we carry on with loan players we will suffer as a team, I haven't seen enough coming through to show promise that we have some young kids good enough to take the game by the scruff of their neck, with the exception perhaps of Medley, who seems a bit arrogant though and will maybe suffer for that.
If we had seen a few kids come through and take their chance I might have been more optimistic about next year.

I thought we'd be at least in the playoff places - and we should be, if we could start the season from the start of this year we'd be up there challenging around 6th/7th/8th spot or thereabouts! Wholesale changes expected this summer, added to the team improvement of late - it will be Stu's team - no excuses next year for at least not challenging for the playoffs!!

True SFB. It is difficult to see a backbone or core on which to build on at the moment as many players have just not shown enough and are inconsistent. We need some stability within the squad for a change before we can kick on and make progress. As it looks we will be adding yet more new and loan players continuing the trend of previous seasons. To hit the ground running next season will be a big ask.

Well, after all the hype pre-season, I was hoping for automatic promotion - then, as beaks said, we decide to try do it the hard way....
Anything 10th or above and I will be a happy bunny.. tup:

I think a few of your more vocal fans set out the stall pre-season of Bradford 'too big for this division', 'going to storm League Two' and words to the like.
Do you honestly think we're not too big for this division FFS?
That's not the point, the point is if we're good enough to get out of this division. We've got a moderately decent set of players but additions need to be made and we desperately need to find some consistency. I have faith in Stu to improve from this seasons showing, as for this season I was amongst the more pessimistic and said that as long as we finished above the relegation spots I would be happy! But realistically we should be challenging next year now he's found his feet.

no-body is too big for this division...!
You are hear on merit, and let's be honest, all the pre-season hype surrounding you guys storming this division were just a flash in the pan.
I completely disagree, if the leagues went on size of fanbase, tradition and history then we would not be down here... therefore we are too big for this division.
However I'd agree that we are down here because we have been crap for the last few seasons... but as I seem to remember it the vast majority of hype about us was mainly from the media and from other supporters who saw us as a 'threat'.
Of course many City fans had optimism for the season ahead but the majority knew it wouldn't be that simple and I think the 'more vocal fans' as you put it were merely playing up to the amount of hype that was coming our way! I think you are being pretty unfair to say that it was mainly us talking ourselves up.

But League's aren't made up like tat so really your argument is a lot of bull...!

A 'threat'. In what way? The same way Manchester City were when they dropped down to Division Three? And Im sure that it wasn't just the media who was guilty of the hyp surrounding Bradford City pre season, I'm pretty sure that there was a lot of cyber gob-shites who were giving it the old 'we are' routine and every week that has past with seeing 'the massive' Bradford City in the bottom half has been a joy to watch.

I'm sure there were loads of you pre-season if Claret And banter's Admin staff were able to dig through the archives saying you would bounce right back...! I'm sure those who said 'oh I knew we would struggle' and saying that with tongue firmly in cheek knowing full well back in August a strong majority of you were mightily convinced you were bouncing straight back up...!

county bloke, chill out ffs I think you were wound up by the rivals guys. The majority might not have been as loud but they know not to expect too much.
I know this is more our level than the Premiership but you can't help think we are one of the bigger teams in the division, along with you of course!
But League's aren't made up like tat so really your argument is a lot of bull...!
Lol, oh dear... you were the one who started going on about how we all thought we were too BIG for this division, how can you deny we aren't when the likes of Stanley and Dagenham are down here... I freely admitted we aren't too GOOD for this division though, what else do you want me to say? It may be a bull argument but you started it my friend!
A 'threat'. In what way? The same way Manchester City were when they dropped down to Division Three? I went on BBC 606 before the season and every other thread was from a Posh or Dongs fan saying that they were expecting City to be up there with them at the end of the season. Go back and have a look! There were even City fans on there telling them that they thought they were being stupid and we would be happy with the play-offs FFS! Like SFB says, have you been reading rivals??? In which case you have been well and truly caught hook line and sinker! Norm will be chuffed!

Hmm like I say there will have been the pre-season optimism given that Stu had returned and we'd just sold 12000 ST's but some on here on here are by and large the most miserable bunch who go to City (have you met Chucks?) so I'm 100% certain that noone but the (as you put it) 'cyber gobshites' would have been truly backing us to walk the league.
Get a grip FFS. Have you come on here acting all nice and then suddenly when I make an honest assessment of the situation you jump on your high horse and express delight at our plight... fooking pathetic.

Lee, he's been on here before and to be fair he has plugged us on his article.
Don't think he has come for the wind up but perhaps bit at the "too big" comment.
It aint that long since both of us were in the second tier, so arguably we are both too big for this division.
Still, we know where we stand. When we beat them tomorrow we can rub it in! :D tup:
Fair enough SFB, I would agree that Stockport are probably one of the teams who should in terms of size be above many in the league above, with us, but he seemed to take offence? And then he spouted a load of jackson pollocks about the normal majority of City fans being overly optimistic!! When was the last time that that happened!!
Anyway.

It's a no brainer...of course we're too big for this division  As Lee quite rightly points out we're not too good for this division, just too big.
It pains me to see teams like Scunny, Blackpool & Colchester in the 2nd tier. We don't have a divine right to be any higher but if we hadn't fucked ourselves good and proper over the years we wouldn't down here mingling with the likes of Daggers & Accy :poo:
Look at Bristol City, top of the Championship and only a few year ago we were pissing over them 4-1, where did it all go wrong....?? Chuckle...... :)

I expected us to bounce back from league 1 at the first attempt...and I expected us to do it this season from league 2! Optimistic idiot that I am. Right now I'd be happy to see us finish top half. Next season we must push on though and should be challenging for the top 3 in my opinion. (See, I'm at it again already! :D)

To be in this division at all is unsatisfactory to start with. But in March to be claiming to be happy with a mid table position is a sad indictment as to what the powers that be have done to this club since they manufactured that second spell of admin. They were full of how that clean slate would give us the momentum to become one of the top ten clubs in the country yet here we are at the arse end of division four, having to give seats away to get people to watch the shitpool shite our owners think is an acceptable and potentially sucessful way to move this club forwards..
I'm neither disappointed or overjoyed by this, in fact, I think City have overachieved a bit to be looking at finishing just below halfway given what our beleagured and misled manager has had to work with after his proud boasts that anything less than instant promotion would be a faliure. Stu deserves some credit for keeping this bag of shite in the division, but his bosses deserve fuck all.
