i honestly say hes shit , what you want from a striker is more than 3 goals in a season and all his goals nearly eccept the lincoln one are from the penalty spots

Why doesn't thorne take the penaltys

or willy topp

why choose a striker who cant score from open play a sttriker ment to score form open play (and cant hit a fucking barn door) .

and not just cos of this match yes hes got great hold up play but i couldn't give a fuck a striker ment to put the ball in the back of the net

feel better now?

He was obviously given the role of pen taker - thats down to the players themselves - you don't see anyone else rushing to take them.

Worst player ever? - nope, no way, at least he shows commitment and hard work - we've had some other plonkers in the past that can carry the title - thinking of the likes of Darren Crybaby Tracy / Dowson.

Why was a guy that had just got of the bench allowed to take a penalty?
I would have thought that someone up to speed in the game would have taken it.

I totally agree!

Conlon should never have taken the pen after only having been on 2 mins. Also, did anyone else notice him running away in the opposite direction half celebrating, when if he had been following his pen in, then it would have dropped right at his feet with an open goal! - That is the reason we lost today. I am sure, that if we had scored the pen, then we would have gone on to win the game. We were so dominant in the 2nd half.

Why didn't someone say "hang on a minute, you've only just come on, let Thorne take it"?

Also, didn't Thorne say after Law missed a pen earlier in the season, that he would be throwing his hat into the ring to take pens from then on?

I am really angry about this. I drive all the way up from London for home games, and this lack of ability to make a good decision at a crucial time has cost us three points and wiped out all the good work from 2 successive league wins.

Colbeck was a massive dive, he should have been booked to be fair! But why o why was conlon on pens??? Although why didnt one of the other players say...NO....im taking it? The fact of the matter is Conlon is the only one who is not a bottler!

Stu said after the game that the penalty taker is the one one the field who is up for it and takes the ball -- maybe the others are a bit scared of Big Baz :wet: he's a battler but without skill or goal scoring ability.

he is a battler but he will never score goals..

I remeber us having this scenario b4 when none of the senior players would step up to the plate when young symes had to take a last min pen somewhere. Some argue that pen miss ruined his whole bradford career, seems to me that we would be much better off naming a player as the pen taker who is in the first 11. Who would have taken that pen should conlon have been off the field

Parrot

How many had he scored previously though?

I know he was gonna miss sooner or later and wouldnt bet him scoring a open goal ffs!

I think he must be going through a confidence crisis which seems to effect most strikers we sign, surely he has being better in front of goal with previous clubs than us?

No doubt we'll offload him to someone like Shrewsbury in the summer and he'll score shitloads for them! :(

Banks was quality. I think he holds the record for the fastest ever sending off. He was sent off as a sub on the touchlines whilst waiting to come on (al la John Aldridge for Ireland). They lived in Allerton whilst playing for City and one night they got p*ssed up in the boozer at Sandy Lane, came back home, had a full scale drunken barny with their missus and ended up throwing a television out of the living room window leading to the police being called and the player being arrested and cautioned. The player was subsequently sacked by City as they were on a final warning and never played for the club again. Can anyone shed light on which of the players it was?
