Accepting the club are making financial progress - enhanced by the new ST deal if we get the predicted crowds - the next thing I would like to see - is the ground - rent reduced - should this be buying it back outright or buying it back through a rental purchase scheme. Get this millstone of our backs and it will give us greater flexibility in raising the players budget and to be able to operate in the black.

Cancel the standing order that goes out to pay the rent, i'm sure Gibb will be in contact then :)
That, or turn up at flamingo land with a big banner saying "Hi Mr Gibb, I'm the co-chairman of that football club you left and i've help make it debt free - now I want that big tub of steel in bradford that you own - Offer: £1.5 million"

I believe various people have tried to contact Mr Gibb with varying degrees of success. By my reckoning a buy-back is easily a viable option with the right people instigating the purchase. I can understand a reluctance to engage in discussion with one of the co-owners but am surprised that gibb wouldn't discuss the issue with lawn.

No chance. It's owned by a pension fund that has got a guaranteed 300k a year plus going into it year after year. It is worth millions to the trustees of that fund.

just about to write the same thing but Gibb did say there was a clause to buy it back after a certain period

He devoted his time to playing Cricket for New Rover.
The buy back from Gibb was valid after the first or second payment was made, Rhodes past it up because he said he couldn't afford it.
Think they get another option to buy it back in 2 years time for just under £2 million, otherwise it's gonna cost them £2.5 million.

Just after he almost brought the club too it's knee's with his self confessed six weeks of madness.
Football might be shite, We might be plying football at a shite level but .. we've got a club that's finally made a profit ... which it hasn't done since your god went on a mad spending spree.

Just after he alongside the Rhodes who are still working their brand of Kamikaze business acumen at Valley Parade to this very day almost brought the club too it's knee's with their self confessed six weeks of madness.

lol - right there Chuck - whatever, there will be discussions that the ground needs to be back in the clubs hands at some stage - it's an easy one to arrange when the pension fund trustees are satisfied by the offer, thats the hard bit as you say.

As has been mentioned, I can't see Gibb doing business with Rhodes involved and, to be honest, I can't really blame him - it's not as if he needs to sell.

Nothing like a balanced arguement is there Chucks?
You conveniently forget that at the time of the first administration there were 4 members of the Richmond family on the board compared to 2 from the Rhodes family. Check the link if you require confirmation http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bradford_city/1991829.stm
I'm not saying they were blameless but if there was anything that they didn't agree with, they could have been outvoted by GR and his family.

Have we signed a lease to play at Valley Parade and pay rent for a set amount of years? If not then why don't the gruesome twosome make some media sounds about sharing the Odsal Superdome with the Bulls and leaving VP? That will scare Gordon into selling for peanuts! tup:

In terms of ground development all that will be added at Odsal in the current proposals is a roof over the terracing on the popside - definitely not enough to convince anyone that we might have the slightest desire to move there.

Even a small scale manageable thing like this probably won't end up happening - nevermind a superdome.
As far as I am aware this current scheme is just roofing over that side, building a new sports centre (as Richard Dunn's loses shedloads of money) and a smaller outdoor pitch and athletics facility to replace Horsfall.
