Reading the T&A report about conceding in the last minute... apparently we've lost 5 games in the last minute. If we hadn't conceded these we would have had 5 draws instead and 5 extra points, putting us on 46 points, 7 off the play-offs with 2 games in hand over Stockport who are currently in 7th.

Looking further we also got draws against Stockport (H) and Bury (A) in the last couple of minutes where we could have wins. Take off the 2 points from 46 and add 6 instead and we're up to 50 points, 3 off the play-offs with the 2 games still in hand.

I know if your aunty had bollocks he'd be your uncle but I thought it was mildly interesting. Sort it out Stu? :)

Then you look at the other side of the games we have scored late on to secure points or point

Grimsby A
Lincoln H

thats 3 points there

So we'd only have 47?

Still pisses on what we've got now!

Anyway I'm not trying to make a point, it's a hypothetical post, if we cut out the conceding and carried on the scoring just think where we could be. I'm not having a go at anyone, I know it happens and it's football but it's still a bit of a ballache don't you think.

I can see your point, lee, but we could go on all day, if we had Windass playing up front for us, if we had more mobile centre halves, if Wisey had won the Euromillions.....tup:

Yes but this is hardly as far-fetched as getting Windass back is it... it's making sure the defence keeps sturdy for 60 seconds or so at the end of a game.

Or the midfield and forrads keep the ball better and take the pressure off.

Arguably we could also say that at one point we were the team with the most shots on goal in the entire division and thus we could also point out that had we had better luck/finishing then we would have been more than 1 goal clear in any event and a last minute goal for the opposition wouldn't matter other than to test the nerves a bit.

Me

I seem to remember us going through a phase of games when we seem to concede late on during the 93/94 season :( I seem to recall going down to Stoke and losing out to a late winner and the following week a game at Turf Moor with Sean McCarthy scoring an own goal at Burnley in a 2-2 draw :(

It was snowing a little that day as well if i remember rightly, but it was nowt compared to the cold shiver i felt when the dingles equalised in injury time! :(
