what went wrong ? why did he pull out

Mr Etherington has made his mark behind the scenes by setting up the Bantams Business Centre in the club's old office block which could bring in up to £750,000 a year. He believes the club is "60 per cent" of where it should be commercially. do we still have this ?

A third, so far unnamed City fan, is still involved in the talks.

and was this mark lawn?

How dare you! He never put anything into City! :D

Jonny, really mate it's old news, rumours of an affair, divorce on the cards, suddenly no money to invest, allegations that he couldn't afford because of divorce proceedings, all in all he pulled out (titter ye not! ;) )!

Lawn has allegedly always been keen and interested but it was never the right time - one has to wonder why we bothered, we didn't have the luxury of picking and choosing a "right" time to get off our arses and drag the Club through an admin period, eh? Anyways he has simply bided his time like a true businessman would (although I query his credibility as a fan if he could not approach the fans when they were desperately seeking pennies to keep the Club afloat in 2004) so he could always have been lurking.

Just wondering SFB, not trying to stir it but do you and Lawn have some history with the trust? I always seem to detect a dislike and negativity towards him?

He said at the time he became joint chairman that he would of liked to have helped previously but didn't have enough funds to get City out of the mire it was in back in 2004. He could now because the debt was not as big as it was a few years back.

I guess people will read into that what they will, but as a business man, you wouldn't just want to throw £x million down a great big hole and not see any return. He's simply done the same thing on a smaller scale I guess!

No but instead the fans had to get City out of the mire for 3 months, nowt wrong with approaching the Trust back then and asking for commercial confidentiality on offering to support the fundraising. Still, I suppose it's only us thicko, gullible, naive supporters that will throw brass into what we know is a black hole in the vain hope that we can Save our Club, nothing to get back in return I suppose, so never a viable option for someone who really really cares about the Club.

Oh and just to top it all off you get criticised for trying to safeguard the funds raised against any hostile takeover or liquidation proceedings by including it as a debt of the administration to be written off on conclusion of the Creditors' vote. Maybe I'm having one of them days again! Pass us the pills!

Do you get my drift? I had the same gripe with the silent knights on whiteish stallions who rode in on July 1st at what was supposedly do-or-die for the Club and became the self-appointed Steering Committee. Where were they in April, may or indeed June when the only reason the Club stayed in business for them to ride in and take all the glory is because of the fans. Perhaps this is why I will never be a successful businessman. Ah well!
