Yeah those visits to Wembley and the Top Flight of English football were terrible weren't they? Thank fuck for Julian's efforts to get us to the non leagues eh? We are truly blessed, what on earth would we do without him?

Given that thanks to the stewardship of the Rhodes family it bears no resemblence whatsover to the institution I loved for almost thirty years, I wouldn't want to. When it finally goes tits up my concience will be clear. The morons who defend and turn a blind eye to Junior's ineptitude will not be able to say the same.
Bradford Park Avenue are in a far healthier position with regards to the future for fucks sake, doesn't that make you feel embarrased? It should do to anybody who claims to be a City fan.

I think you will find that a hell of a lot on here have not turned a blind eye to it we cannot not do a thing about it CAN WE
As for BPA i will start getting a bit jealous if everything goes to plan but for now they are a club playing in a hovel with a following of under 500 :) ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

Chuck you will remember this institution came within minutes of going under in 1983 with a crummy old ground and £500k of debt, and again when GR appeared the bailiffs were at the doors (allegedly).
I started supporting this club when it was skint, and success came hard earnt through a collection of promising young kids and bargain buy veterans - disaster was the only reason the ground redevelopmemt went ahead like it did, changing the face of football in it's wake.
It's galling to see the ground now owned by an ex Director, the place that is in effect a living memorial to those who did not make it home after the 11th May - BUT i think the fans have shown their soldarity (not always acknowledged by some i appreciate) - the options open to us are to continue supporting the club we all have a bond with, or walk away.
It's your decision mate whatever you make, but i really think you need to put a lid on laying the insults at those who are still committed to the club.
Your consience may be clear if this great club ever keeled over completely, me i would be gutted ( and thousands more) and maybe that would be the defining moment to move away from the area.
Remember that documetary about City back in 87/88 - Harry Grations words "City have never been a glamorous club and their supporters have always had to be philisophical, and enjoy the moments of glory and success when they come along" - I've got most programmes made about City in my collection and it's right, it was not success at VP that made me become a City fan, it was the soul of the place and the fans, the link with the players.
I know this won't make you climb down off yer orange box, thats your choice mate - but aside from the jokes and piss taking / insults, remember it's not just the price of the cheap season tickets that brought people through the turnstiles - it's because most of them really want the club to survive and be successful again.

Great post Wisey.
I could have supported any team in the world having only spent my first 4 years alive in Bradford. Years I do not remember.
But being a Bradford City fan is about so much more than football, though we all would love it dearly if we were actually any good.
And whatever anyone says about us internet fans who can't get over to many games, our heart is with the club more than any other club in the English leagues could ever be.

JCT was a rare exception to the others, like he says, when he was Chairman all the bills like the VAT, tax were all paid on time.
He got a lot of stick off a lot of fans when he did not push out the boat in 87/88 to try and secure promotion to the top flight - but the risks with it are not what he's about - his empire was built on solid foundations and continues to do very well.

Well said, Wisey, and as for JCT he was honoured recently in the Queen's honours list, methinks, don't know what title he got, but fair play to him, he has done a lot for sport in Bradford.

Name the club's co-owners at the time.
It might just be my memory playing tricks on me but am I right in thinking that the board was not just made up of the joint owners, i.e. GR and the Rhodes.
I have this vague recollection - and will quite happily be corrected if I'm wrong - that other members of Richmonds family were on the board. I certian his son was and I'm pretty sure his wife was too. What the make up the board was after that I don't know but there can only be 2 options:-
1) It was a board of 5 with the Richmond family having the ability to out vote the Rhodes.
2) It was a board of more than 5 and if that were the case I would imagine it was made up of more people associated with Richmond than the Rhodes.
If the Rhodes had disagreed with anything GR wanted to do I'm sure he had things set up in such a way that he got what he wanted anyway.
