I saw this advertised for Monday night but can't remember what channel it is on. Anyone else going to watch this? Don't think I've seen a programme about the Japs in the war before (other than Pearl Harbour love:) so am interested to know how they managed to convince all these men to commit suicide for their cause.

They were brainwashed into thinking emperor Hirohito was a divine being and would be rewarded for giving their lives....headtap:

Sound familiar?

Anyone with a modicum of intelligence would know why and how these men did what they did.

Channel 4, 9.00 pm, it clashes with the great David Attenborough, so I will probably tape and watch later.

I don't know if you ever watched World at War,narrated by Laurence Olivier, but there was a couple of episodes regarding the Japs pre-war, during the war, and the aftermath of the bomb.

I would imagine a lot of the battle footage to be shown tonight will have been shown in the World at War programmes.

I never actually watched this tonight as I forgot I had a lecture at college. I did catch a bit of the David Attenborough programme though on the BBC and was engrossed in that! Brilliant show, I must buy the DVD set when I have money!

I watched the prog on the pilots and what impressed me was that most of them actually had jobs and contributed to their society......:)

I thought the "nip" referred to ladies jumper bullets standing to attention when it was cold?

So the mess is easier to clean up. They may be suicidal and crazy, but they are tidy and considerate as well.
