I stayed in Tynemouth last night and I bet that could beat Skeggy for cold and wind. Got a good deal at the Grand Hotel though (thank you laterooms.com) which is to be highly recommeded.

I used to stop over in Whitley Bay years back when working North-East area - lively place - Carl & Eddies Hotel was my haunt - can't remember the name of the place though!.
Did you get valet parking lol?

I stay in Whitley Bay quite often, either the Windsor or the York House Hotel. There are loads of places to stay and quite a bit a bit cheaper than Newcastle.

The only place I've had valet parking was at the Wedgewood Hotel in Vancouver (http://www.wedgewoodhotel.com), probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in. I was just glad Hertz had given us a massive, feck off, fully loaded Chevy Suburban so we looked the part :)
