This board was created very quickly.

Here's my 1st suggestion for 4 fun places in Brussels, all on the same cul-de-sac alleyway:

Plus all the resulting discussion of absinth.

When I worked in Brussels my favourite restaurant was Aux Armes de Bruxelles ( http://www.armebrux.be ) that is near the Grand Place. For somewhere more local to my flat I used to go to Le Grain De Sel ( http://www.resto.be/ware/details.jsp?businessid=510&lg=EN ) between Place Flagey and Ave Louise. As a friend once described it - an interesting place about half way up Louise :)

As for drinking you have to try the beer circus where you can get just about every Belgian beer made. As you can at the student bar Sunflower took me to one evening (whose name I forget) and we ate at a Vietnamise restaurant afterwards. Afterwards they brought out their home made digestive in a large demijohn with a dead snake inside that its head wired so it looked as if it was sat up looking at you through the drink. Twas a real snake as the drink had scales floating on top :)
