After yet another disapointing result today i decided to stay off the drink and sulk in the corner. During my sulk a number of things went through my mind, but the most striking and common thought that came through was the fact that we are a mid table 4th division team. Not a team who is quite obviously in the wrong league. Not a team who has the devine right to beat names like Hereford and Mansfield. Not a team full of money. Not a 'sleeping giant'. We are a team with a side made up of players not wanted by bigger clubs and who we are waiting to prove these managers wrong. Phelan, Johnson, Nix. We have good pros who have done the rounds of a couple of clubs and done a 'steady' job. If they had been anything other than steady they would have still been at these clubs, williams, hecky, conlan, Thorne.
We dont have lots of money to spend. We cant compete with teams like Darlo, Peterborough or MK Dons. We have a small budget and an inexperienced manager.
We have a team of players who are mid table 4th divison standard. Once again, if they werent we'd be beating of teams wanting to take them off our hands! We arnt.
What i am trying to say is that we are a 4th division club, who ar ebuilding foundations. When we were battling for our lives getting into then staying in the premiership these teams were laying foundations. Its going to take time. Its going to take patience.ts going to take a lot of looking forward. Its going to take a lot of believing what is said by the club.
We are where we are and that is where we should be. We need to stop thinking we should be top of the league or that we are in a false position. We need to keep up the tremendous support of the team and be a little more patient. McCall has been a manager for 6mths!!!! He's learning. Lawn has been a chairman for 6mths. Rhodes for 3years. Its not a long time. These 3 have the best interests of city at heart and we need to trust and support them.
The best years are ahead.
The futures bright.
We just have to believw

Succinct and accurate an overview of our predicament. Now convince the glory boys we aren't a Premiership team having a bad hangover!

Errm okay......but.......we are told we have the 4th highest wages bill in this division, we have over 12,000 season ticket holders and a mammoth job must now be on the cards to persaude the majority to renew...........I don't expect anything or see us as having a divine right beat any team.
What I do see is a club that is now phenomenal in terms of under achievement for the current season - nowt is guaranteed in footie i know, but i would say that if i was chair of the club then i would be asking questions about how badly we have performed to date.

I started watching City in 1978 when they had a tatty old ground and little in the way of money......we've had an up and down ride since then, but i have no desire to watch many more years of grot rot footie and players taking the piss.

The hardcore support will hang around (including me), but maybe 8,000 of those who bought season tickets may not.
