I pretty much agree with that list Wisey, personally, i can't understand why Bentham isn't getting a game with the state of our midfield at the minute.

Ricketts
Clarke
Penford
Daley (decent impact sub?)
Topp
Eddie Johnson
Thats it.
Topp and Daley need quality players around them to shine imo...
I'd like to see more of Medley. I'd keep him on, but I agree with your list Wisey.

I'd forgotten about Medley lol, seems like our management team have as well - could be an addition to the list if he gets a game again.

Just beat me too it Wisey!!!
I really think we needed someone like Medley today. We needed his raw determination and his desire. Every Hereford player wanted the ball, they came out with nearly every 50-50. Our players looked like they didn't want the ball half the time. He should be involved or he should be sent out on loan. Highly unfair letting him rot in the reserves.

I reckon Phelan needs to go out on loan to toughen up a bit. Can't understand how he gets in before Bentham

I refer the right honourable gentleman to my previous comment on Phelan :cool:

Stay:
Ricketts = with a bit of competition he should be better than this league
Williams = looks a class act
Daley = frustrating player but gives us something
Baz = I like him, definately a squad option to be kept
Clarke = future captain, a class act
Colbeck = needs a clever and forcefull middy and striker next to him, he has everything except the composure and footballing brain, that will come with the right team mates, makes a lot of mistakes but his good moves are brilliant
Ainge = needs a good run alongside Clarke, that's all
Penford = still cheap and an option, worth including in the squad
Lukey = first name on the teamsheet
Phelan = as long as he is cheap... if he can learn to run like a straight man then he might be a good squad option
Nix = I'd have him in the AM position every week, this kid is a real little dynamo, just what we need... and he can fill the LM slot in emergency, keep keep keep. I like this guy a lot.
Topp = cheap wages, bags of talent. No brainer.
Medley = another no brainer, watch him go towards the end of the season, will make a lot of mistakes but he will try his bollocks off and occasionally have some real magic.
Hopkins = still young
Taylforth = is running ahead of schedule for me, really come on a long way this season and if he can continue to improve at that rate he'll be a regular first teamer by the end of the season
Saynor = Worth another year
Sheridan = Not going to figure next year but worth a pro contract
Sharry = shame his injury set him back 6 months, has the potential to fill a big gap in the first team next season
Go:
Hecky = not a patch on Lukey, we can get better backup for far less wages
Evans = better and cheaper available
Wethers = need to get him off the wage bill... cheap coaching role/backup Bower = cash in if we can
EJ = decent chap but not worth the wages, there's better and cheaper available
Thorne = dunno what wage he is on but it must be a lot, expected so much more from him
Rhodes = might as well give Taylforth that bench spot
Bentham = times up
Morgan = Should have been further along by now
Waite = Harsh to dismiss him so soon after all he's been through, hope he proves us all wrong and becomes the keeper he would have had he not had cancer
Osborne = Not the right sort
By my reckoning that is over half the wage budget saved. A squad of 18 left over meaning there's a hell of a lot of money left over to bring in 6 decent new young players and have a squad capable of winning this division next season.

with umbongo back to gills is there any chance medley will get a look in now? not seen much of medley so he could be totally different type of player to the lad we sent back. i know loan players are useful but it sometimes baffles me how young players are pushed out as a result (lets face it umbongo wasn't exactly amazing). stu sees more in training than us though and maybe that's why.

I fail to see what Thorne has done so badly, seeing as he has been starved of service and anything resembling support around him - echoes of Windass and his goal less spells under Turd.

Aye tup:
I'd like to see Thorne in a team with wingers who could cross a ball like Summerbee or a midfielder with an eye for a defence splitting pass like Whalley!

I think Thorne can be a big asset to us, but it was so evident on Saturday that he is desperate for a proper strike partner. Daley was far too detached from Thorne, which when he held the ball up or flicked it on, the move broke down.
McCall is obviously exasperated with Daley as a winger, but I don't think he has the positional sense to be a forward. He is better as a winger, but not much better. Him and Colbeck can run, but neither can cross.
Topp showed a few good signs, but needs games and I hope that McCall gets him and Thorne to try and build a partnership. It has the potential to be the sort of combination a front pairing should be - tall player holding the ball with a smaller, skillful player feeding off him. (I'm not going to make direct comparisons to Mills and Blake, but you get the general idea).
If McCall can get a couple of powerful centre midfielders and some wingers that can cross a ball, then I think we have the makings of a decent team.

Good post....my thoughts exactly tup:
I was saying the other day that if we sorted our piss poor midfield out the defence and the forwards would benefit considerably!
