I agree we need to get players in, but how many?

We dont need much to turn it around imo - and we still have plenty 'untried' players & combinations..

The way some people are talking you'd think we needed to start from scratch!

I still dont think so...

Center Half & center midfield is still where we are falling short and though we look to lack quality in them positions we still have untried options..

Matt Clarke if he ever gets fit for CB to partner Bowser.
& Law will be quality if he could be twinned with Evans.

Its alright saying the forwards are not doing it but the service has to be there, so far it hasnt been.
If the back four & CM's do their jobs right and dont sit back too much it will allow Nix/Dayley (or any other wing combinations) to get forward and support/supply the forwards.

Stuart has to decide whether we are a team which attacks and goes for it or we are a counter attacking team - in this league and with the players he's brought in we suit the attacking option, yet we always seem to get suckered when we are sitting back trying to counter....

Im sure he'll turn it around, im just ranting - i just wish that as a quality midfielder he'd spot johnson for the waste of space that he is!!

Bit harsh that BB..

I reckon EJ should be let loose up front...He can in no way shape or form be any worse than arm waving Conlon...##

I would say its the Central midfield and the full backs where the problems are,

The full backs are too slow for us to be playing with wingers, because they cannot get forward to support them in midfield positions when we attack and then cannot track back in time to cover when the opposition breaks.

In central midfield we are too small weak and pathetic, we get bullied by every side and cannot win the ball in the air or on the ground - so no possession to play with. Also we are too thin and weedy to effectively support the defence.

Both of these problems combine to make the centre halves look worse than they are, yes they are slow, but they should have more support from a tougher midfield and speedier full backs - on the plus side both are tall and reasonably effective in the air and good tacklers, a decent keeper should help their decision making too.

Its impossible to really criticise the attack one way or the other because they get no service, the wingers are ineffective but not particulalrly bad.

So I would say we need to loan, then buy, two nasty bastard bullying 6 ft 5 midfield players, and two younger faster full backs.

Conlon did well at Morcambe - but in general looks lazy to me, though his record suggests he will get goals at this level with the service.

As for Johnson, id be happy to see him have a go upfront - from the bench anyway. it just really gets me that he is persisted with in such a key role in our team when he is way out of his depth in that position and ends up in every opposition midfiel's pocket!
