Just wondering, putting aside everything Macca did for us as a player, is anyone starting to have doubts about his ability as a manager already?

For me, the time to start judging him would be the end of the season but some of his decisions - odd substitutions, slagging youngsters rather thn seniors off etc. - have appeared very Todd-like and i dwouldn't want him to go down that path.

He's finding it tough going both through the standard of players at his disposal and the fact he admitted he knew nothing of L2 and the fact that certain goalposts have been moved for him.

Knowing him he won't give in easily and i think given time and the tools he can make it work.

The slagging off of Ainge wasn't exactly slagging him off in my eyes. I see Simon Ainge every time I'm up in Bradford as he's a mate of a mate and all he's ever doing is going out in Bradford and Leeds. He doesn't seem that committed to the cause and he thinks he's better than he is.

As for McCall, this is his first managerial job, he's not had the experience yet and I'm sure people knew this before he signed. With Todd, it wasn't just his tactics but his exceptionally crap motivational skills. He never took the blame for anything either and was really blinkered in his post match views. There's no way McCall is like Todd, Todd has more experience than McCall and still was naiive in his tactical thinking.

Stuart will learn I'm sure, but he has to learn fast.

Well said Turkey, couldn't agree more tup:

Jantje, have you got something against Macca?

I know were struggling at the moment and everything isn't rosy but he's having to build a side from scratch working under complete numpties of the highest order!

Turd had 3 years to build a side, admitedly under harsh conditions as well but no one started questioning his managerial "skills" until towards the end of his first season.

Baton down the hatches and see where we are after the next transfer window, then we can panic if things haven't improved!:poo:

McCall's reputation is intact for me, his reaction to the defeats says it all.

Too many players are used to losing and are in the comfort zone, of "well I will be playing next week, so what?"

McCall as manager is not the issue, the support of his board with a transfer budget to get rid of the deadwood and allow him to build a credible squad of players to take the club forward is the immediate question.

Stu has to learn -- and learn his trade very quickly

It still wont be as fast as folks seem to want but he will get there

Mistakes are all part of the learning curve

As long as the curve moves gradually upwards things will be ok

It disappointing me, how after such a short time -- the fans champion is being written off :(

I have just seen the highlights and we should of buried Morecombe with the amount of first class chance going missing. How the hell did Nix miss that sitter.

:

Parrot, i don't. If you read my post i'm backing him to get the job done.

I was reading some of the dross on the omb about some of the chavs wanting him out and it just prompted me to think about how much time would fans give him .

I know most fans would want him desperately to succeed and its probably just kids who don't really know what he's done for the club but the fact that after only 11 games , some people are grumbling already just made me wonder how safe anyone is in a managers job these days

No doubts at all about Macca. Just think that we all (Chucks aside) were probably over confident that he would be the messiah from day one. With what he has to work with and the size of the test in front of him he is going to take a full season and a bit before he's really going to make his mark.

I'd stay off there if i were you JS

I know what you mean but anyone with any sense would be questioning Macca's employers and how much (or little) they have backed the manager that sold them 13k season tickets!

Its not going as good as i anticipated but i'll judge him from next season when he's had time to build and mould a squad in his own image...tup:

He hasn't done anything to suggest he is not up to the job. For me his honest appraisal and reaction to defeats have been refreshing and he is taking responsibility where he should. He has never been afraid to take the f;lak and he knows if he is straightforward with us he will earn our respect. He has had nowhere near enough time yet to be judged and far be it from me to comment on the football (not seen much this season yet), but I reckon we might just be suffering from a drought of luck as well at the moment. His team hasn't yet gelled but that's not unusual when a team has been thrown together in such a short time.

He'll be fine, but he may have to be ruthless when he does get some players in, and as hard as it may be Wethers may have to join the coaching staff and accept that the legs may have gone.

Lets look at the seasons so far;

H vs Macclesfield 1-1 Maybe should have won?

A vs Shrewsbury 0-1 Slow start but should have grabbed a equalizer near the end!

H vs Wrexham 2-1 Deserved win

A vs Barnet 1-2 Lost in the 94th minute but hit the post how many times?

H vs Peterborough 1-0 Tight win against a much fancied side!

A vs Hereford 2-4 shocking defensive errors cost us at least a point.

H vs Wycombe 0-1 Poor game, couldn't break down a stubborn defence despite our possesion.

H vs Accrington 0-3 Complete shocker, deserved and got nothing!

A vs MK Dons 1-2 Looked solid against the league leaders till giving away a couple of silly goals.

A vs Morecombe 1-2 Lost in final minute after looking the more likely to score the winner near the end, let down by poor finishing!

So apart from the Accrington Stanley game which was a real shocker we've been undone in tight games by bad luck, poor defending or equally poor finishing....or a mixture of all three!

We could quite easily have another 8 points by my reckoning if we didn't shoot oursens in the foot so often or a bit more lady luck!

Great players do not always make great managers. I hope Stuart turns it around. I'll judge him at the end of the season.jawdrop:

Its going to take that for him to get some decent players in. The pre season sighings were just stop gaps:rolleyes:
