Dangerous - think the club could do with some transparancy here - noting who has contributed, the amount and current total somewhere on the website. We need to ensure the money is spent in the intended manner.
Nice idea, don't think many will oblige though!

Surely a debt free club, just starting on an all new golden era, with money to spend from incoming transfers during the close season shouldn't need such a scheme??
I wonder if anybody will ask to ask multi millionaire board members such as Jim Brown make a hefty contribution to the pot??
I bet I'm the only one here that see's this as another reason to hear alarm bells and to consider we've been fed a helluva lot of Bullshit from the Ivory Tower again this summer?

And look as big a mug as that Councillor fella? No ta. We have plenty of Millionaires sitting at the Boardroom Table who could easily fund a promotion winning squad. Yet, as is becoming more and more evident by the week, it's shitpool time again. Let Rhodes, his Daddy, Lawn. Brown and the cronies give Stu the brass to fish in the promised "squad capable of promotion" pool.
Don't a lot of european clubs do the same?
Bournemouth did it not so long ago as well.

Did their Chairman say that funds were available and money from incoming transfers were going straight into the player purchase pot before pocketing the money too?

I'd happily donate £250....
.... if I trusted either of the men runnng our club!
There might be funds available, but does it really hurt to give Stuart more funds? the funds available might only buy 1 or 2 players and the fans could add an extra player. I see nothing wrong with that, but I dont go around picking faults in the club I support.

You'll be contributing a reasonable sum then?

I have just had a look down the back of my bed, managed to find 10p, a porn dvd, probably one of prawnys judging by the name of it, a sweet, some fluff and a dead fly.
So a french ethiopian striker for us with that little lot?>

Well said. However the point about the other board members is probably a valid one (unless the club can prove they have already been financing us in some form or other).
One worry I do have is that without that guy who's off to Halifax who financed a lot of the youth academy with his time and money, who's supporting the academy?
You'll be contributing a reasonable sum then?
In the current position i'm in, Nope - should that change in the future then I certainly would.

I gave £30 with the season ticket application - City have never said how much was raised from the donations on this.

surely you are kind of donating by getting your s/tickets etc??? we've been donating and supporting the club for years haven't we? i can't afford to at the mo and therefore won't be. i will be trying to make a few home games and don't feel i have to do any more than that quite frankly. that's my take on it.

What a load of bollox. What's the point? Whwere's the guarantee that the money you gave/give is going into the transfer fund. Now do it through a legitimate vehicle that is accountable to its members and you may convince me. tup: No points for the obvious digs here, I won't bite. ;)
Can't believe the Club has commented on this and the T&A has run it, don't they realise it's only 3 years since we all dug deep and saved the bloody Club. What we want to know now is that it is being run in a way that provides funds for transfers rather than begging from the fans again. Collectively we have put in more than any Chairman ever has over the years, time to stop patronising us.
I for one won't be putting a penny in, I read somewhere that this club seems to be run like a charity and I have to agree.
Lets be honest they got way more than they could have dreamed of with the season tickets and if the figures are true that 9,000 were full price with another 2,000 at half price then they have made alot more than they would have selling them at standard rate of £280 because only about 4,000 tops would have got a season ticket.
People are starting to get fed up with the club going round with the begging bowl every 10 minutes.

IF... I had a spare 100k lying down the back of my sofa then yes I would pump a few k into City.
If I had a couple of K in the bank with no debts, credit cards, etc and could happily support my mortgage then yes I would happily pump over 250 squids.
However I have a credit card maxed to the limit and an overdraft heaving and bulging at the sides. I can cover my mortgage and just hope when I sell I cover all my costs and make enough profit to cover the expenditure on firniture etc that caused my debts.
So for the moment I want a little something in return for my cash. I tried to buy some stuff from the SS website but what I ordered was out of stock so I've asked them to just pick out a pint glass, sweat bands, whatever. I've paid my 40 quid for Bantams World and will spend another 100-150 quid on City kit by the time the season is out. I can definately afford NOT to spend any cash but I plan on shelling out +- 200 quid on City stuff by the end of season but I WANT SOMETHING IN RETURN.
I just can't afford to splash cash for nowt. No matter how much I love my club.

in the end of the day bradford city is a business and they have been supported thru thick and thin by city fans. it's not our responsibilty is it? you pay you bills and look after you own mate. is julian etc going to pay you bank charges if they arise in thanks for your continued support? no. keep your money in your pocket and just follow the team that is more than enough. no investor puts money into something they are going to lose on are they? the club may not be a picture of health but i'm sure the people at the top aren't scraping pennies together either.

The fans put their hands in their pockets to help this club survive
Its not on to ask for more now the ships (supposedly) on an even keel
How can they, as a business sell S/T at a price and then say thats not enough we needs some more --
A bit like buying toys at Christmas from woolies only to get a letter in June to say they didm't charge enough, there short of cash to expand, can you put a few quid in an enverlope -- ok, and thank you very much
i would happily throw a couple of quid in a bucket at the end of the match if the money was going to a players fund... if everybody did that they might get £2500 a match times by 10 matches £25000 for stuart to spend in the xmas transfer window....sorted
And you call yerself a supporter??tdwn:

THis really is farcical....give money to a private company with no transparency. It would be like me asking everyone on the board to GIVE me money so i can hire more staff to make my company more productive...absolutely ridficulous!!!!!
Why dont they sell shares if they want investment? That way if the company is ever in a position to repay those who have invested they can pay a dividend! That is the only basis on which i would invest.

Exactly. It would be nice to know how much in the way of extra donations came from those who put into the so called transfer fund when they bought thei Season Tickets and where this money has gone before expecting folk to put into the begging bowl again. Despite the picture they painted, the Rhodes were never a cock hair away from living in a cardboard box, when they "saved" the club, there is still plenty of money there, not to mention the slice of Lawn's "investment" that they pocketed and Jim Brown's total lack of financial input is a fucking joke and an embarrasment to be honest. Let them fund the "squad capable of promotion" that Lawn was trumpeting about when he made his grand entrance.

It seems to me that what's happened here isn't actually what it's being interpreted as.
The response to the news story is that the club are coming round begging us to provide some money for squad strengthening.
The story, on its surface, isn't that.
It's not an article featured on the city website, so it's not news from the club or an official announcement by it. What it is is a passionate Bradford fan having done some sums, phoned the club, phoned the T&A to show his commitment to his community (he's a politician after all) and said look, there's 12,000 of us. If a fraction of us put some money together we could get this amount of money together that Stuart can use to buy an additional paper.
Nowhere is it calling the funding of the club into question or a request for funds from the club.
It's one individual taking a proactive step. It's similar to BantamGunner's petition except one required a signature and the other wants some hard cash.
I can't afford to spare any cash myself and I agree it would be good to find out how much the 'donations' amounted to. Apparently ML is doing an interview for Pulse Gold soon - maybe we could email in that question...
