Im sure McCall will get it right (fingers crossed), but who would you pick for the home game v's Wrexham on Saturday after our recent performances??

My team would be (from current squad)....

GK - Ricketts
LB - Hecks
CB - Wethers
CB - Ainge
RB - Williams
RM - Colbeckjawdrop:
CM - Evans
CM - Nix
LM - Omar

CF - Rhodes
CF - Conlon

If Thorne was fit he would be upfront with Conlon, Rhodes would be at LM, Omar at RM and joco on the bench!

I was on about the Evans situation you mentioned above during the game on Saturday!

He's got one hell of a shot on him but doesn't get into a position to have a pop at goal as often as he should because he's our holding midfielder!

Dont know about Thorne....as he been kidknapped or sommat???

From what i've heard from people we need to get the likes of Evans & Hecky testing the keeper and get our forwards following up for any spills or rebounds.

Also the likes of Daley and Rhodes need to get nearer the bye-line before crossing the ball.

Is that accurate? I don't know as i haven't seen them yet

Were getting balls into the box but not getting enough bodies in the penalty area to meet them, so maybe if they were to go for the byline it would give the team a bit more time to support the strikers???

Im liking your idea of playing Evans as a AM though tup: ...maybe let Bentham or Phelan sit in front of the back four???

Hope SM reads C & B for some Ideas

What we need is two centre halfs who are not cart horses and move out quickly. With Wetherall and Bower walking out of defence, the midfield dont push up either, which puts us under constant pressure.

Wetherall should be dropped, admittedly,he had a good game, but that was because he was given meat and drink headers to win.If he is turned by a player (Fucking Oil Tankers turn quicker, than Wetherall) or a player runs at him, then hes fucked.

Ricketts

Hopkins - Wethers - Ainge - Hecky

Colbeck - Daley - Evans - Nix - Rhodes

Conlon

Reasoning = Evans as the DM. Daley and Nix playing just behind Conlon who is holding the ball up and slipping them through. Daley and Nix also interchanging with JoCo and Rhodes when relevant. Pace aplenty, keep on running at the defence and scare them s#itless.

Subs: EJ, Bower, Dave, Saynor, Bentham.

It's not negative, it's balanced (hence why the majority of managers prefer it). It's certanly not as negative at 4-5-1! Playing with 3 upfront and 3 at the back will expose Ricketts too much, if you're going to play 3 upfront then play 3 in midfield and have Daley or Rhodes up there with Conlon and Umbongo!

Clarke has more ability than wethers and bower put together :D

Northen: My 451 is not negative. The 4 midfielders would be playing well up the field with Omar and Nix getting ahead of Conlon a lot of the time.
Could switch it round and play Dave instead of Nix with Omar running in behind the front two. That would have pretty much the same effect.

The thing is we played a similar formation against Wolves (and still got outplayed in midfield). For me the 4-5-1 formation is when you're playing tough oposition away from home. Getting more men behind the ball but having your midfielders push up to support the front man when on the attack!

We shouldn't be playing a 4-5-1 at home against anyone, we'd be playing like an away team if we did! I agree with your last point though, I think if you do play 4-5-1 you need a quick forward in midfield to support the lone striker, however if you do this why not just play 4-4-2?

Good point. Was just trying to think of something different.

Going 442 I'd stick with this then:

As for moving to 3 at the back we'll get murdered, we can't play that system and it would mean Evans would do even more of his defensive midfield work than he does now, taking our most lethal weapon out of our attack. 3 in midfield doesn't cut it either, as we have employed pacy wingers who would not work in a 3 man midfield system. he needs to employ pretty much the same tactics but make damned sure he tells Evans his job is to be the AM we need. Might even put Bentham in the middle with him and bring Williams back in at rb but I'm not convinced by him at all yet.

Nix should be in the team before Johnson and Bradford Beck.
Bower should be dropped and Clarke in.

How about we try DutchBantams select XI:

GK: Lukey Robinson
DL: Lukey O'Brien
DC: Lukey Clifford
DC: Lukey McCrum
DR: Luca "Lukey" Mellor
ML: Lukey Hendrie
MC: Akeel "Lukey" Frances
MC: Lukey Sharry
MR: Lukey Morgan
FW: Lukey Dean
FW: Lukey Medley

Ok, was getting a bit lame digging in the U9's and 10's for players but still...

Lokks like I was the only one to pick Luke Medley today. If one Lukey can do so much damage then imagine what a whole team of Lukey's could do :D

When he looked up and shaped to hit it,a twat behind me who never shuts up swearing and shouting at the players said ''what the fuck you doing ya stupid cunt?''

I said ''Its in Doylam''

His usual quote of the last 3 seasons when a city player gets knocked off the ball is ''Fucking give him some back and smack the bastard.''

My 11 year old daughter said ''Daddy what would be the point of that? We would be down to ten men then.'' She then turned to me after half an hour listening to him and said ''If this loser keeps on swearing and abusing city, then im going to knock him out.''jawdrop:
