i thought he had a pretty bad game to be honest and now I discover that I'm incapable of telling foul from fair challenge in the box it does nothing to improve my assessment of his match.

One thing that's puzzling me though is that Dave got a booking for ripping his shirt off but it's not reported as such by anyone else. I'm not going mad am I? He did get a yellow for overcelebrating...didn't he?

It was his FIRST EVER Football League game as a referee so I suppose he deserves a little slack! Seen as we're now in the basement division I'm sure we'll get more referee's like that!

And yes he did get booked for taking his shirt off!

Surely if it was his first league game he would have wanted to impress ??? that was a poor showing and deserves to be ridiculed.

Poor decision for the penalty the hand ball earlier perhaps but he was being pushed, booking EJ when they had made worse tackles - but in the main I thought he had a good game to say it was his first league game - especially compared to some of the other clowns we have had the last two seasons e.g.the sikh guy.

Agree completely. The standard of the refereeing is poor at this level and I didn't think he did too bad. When things started getting abit out of control at the end (with Maccs players sliding in everywhere) he dealt with it well!

I thought the referee wasn't too bad and was quite consistent. I cant think any other referee would have been able to referee it any better.

The hand ball was weird as he seemed to back out of either giving a free kick or a penalty, for me it was one or the other. If he accepts the macclesfield player wasn't fouled then it was hand ball, if he was fouled it was a free kick to macclesfield.

Personally i think where the referee was for the actual penalty he must have their defender go through our striker to the ball. I think its harsh to be too harsh on him for that because I think it would split everyone in half over whether it was a penalty or not.

Crowd pressure? I'm not sure.....
