Warnock 'resigns as Blades boss'
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/42930000/jpg/_42930849_warnock_blades_203.jpg Warnock was boss at Bramall Lane for more than seven years
Neil Warnock has reportedly resigned as Sheffield United boss - three days after relegation from the Premiership.
The 58-year-old is said to have ended his tenure at Bramall Lane after seven-and-a-half years in charge.
The former Notts County and Plymouth boss is thought to have been unhappy with the new £450,000-a-year deal he was offered after the club went down.
He was set to earn a £750,000-a-year deal before Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Wigan consigned them to the drop.
Warnock met with club officials on Tuesday, having indicated after that crunch defeat that he would take a number of days to consider his future. Sheffield United will host a news conference at Bramall Lane at 1100 BST when Warnock is expected to confirm his decision to leave. Warnock's assistant, Stuart McCall, is expected to take over in the Blades hot-seat.

I fear the worst! At the end of the day Sheffield United can afford to pay Macca 5 times as much as we could! Will Stuarts love for Bradford be enough to make him turn it down? I think not! :(

If McCall IS appointed Sheff U manager, I think they are taking a huge risk on an untried person. Keane worked out at Sunderland but I reckon his ruthlessness and single-mindedness indicated a born leader.
McCall NOT managing City would not be such a tragedy. It will hit season ticket sales, certainly but on the pitch I'm not convinced. Who ELSE is nominated may be a tragedy though.

Speaking to the Guardian on Tuesday, Warnock's assistant, Stuart McCall, said: "As far as I know, Neil is still in charge."
Asked about rumours that he was set to be named manager, McCall added: "Someone's been winding you up."
It is believed that Warnock

Neil Warnock will step down as Sheffield United boss on Wednesday after seven-and-a-half years in charge and will be replaced by his No 2, Stuart McCall.
The club's last-day relegation from the Premiership has prompted a rethink from both manager and board after Warnock had been offered a two-year contract to continue in the top flight.

The club wanted Warnock to stay on in a senior capacity, possibly as football director, but the 58-year-old wants to remain a manager until he retires at 60.
Warnock, who won promotion in his sixth full season with his beloved Blades, would be under intense pressure to repeat that feat.
Yet he is sure to be in great demand elsewhere. Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan, a long-time admirer, is monitoring the situation and a move by Leicester under Milan Mandaric cannot be ruled out.
The move to install McCall headed off strong interest from his former club Bradford and he is expected to bring in a new No 2.
Club chairman Kevin McCabe said: "Neil is up to his eyeballs in emotion and pretty depressed. I'm up to my eyeballs in the West Ham debacle."

Stu has been agonising over what to do regarding staying with Sheff or joining City.
Today's events I believe work in City's favour, the fact that there's a vacant seat at Sheffield and the board haven't gave it to Stu may swing the pendulum in our direction. He would have stayed at Sheff if offered the job, however Sheffield's first choice is Coleman. Stu won't hang about to find out.
Expect a decision by Friday, and from having my cash on Stu staying at Sheff, it's now pretty much evens with City perhaps been ever so slightly favs to land him.

According to this it's Stuart. No mention of Brian Kidd.

No he hasn't. He's not remotley interested in being City's next manager and who can blame him?
He's not coming. Wether Sheffield United want him or not he's not going to be manager here anytime soon.
