but I wore my "City til I die" shirt to the gym this morning. I guess after 58 years my allegiance is not going to change. In the sports pages today, we slip through with barely a mention, just showing the promoted, relegated etc, but L***s had headlines reading "From Heaven to Hades " etc----------- I'm just sorry we can't play them next season. Might have been a reason to make another visit.(apart from seeing panther again of course!). Cheers.

maybe it's better this way youngbill - avoid the headlines, although I'm sure if McCall is named as new manager than the spin off will be massive and even 10,000 season tickets achievable.
Warnock seems set for 2 more years as manager at Sheff Utd and McCall must be itching to have a go himself - where better than at the club where he is a living legend - Roy of the Rovers stuff lol

There's been no indication at all from South Yorkshire regards Stu's intentions, it certainly won't have gone unoticed by Stu that City have openly stated their
intentions to lure him from Sheffield. The fact that Stu hasn't publicly said he definitley wants to stay at Sheffield may indicate he'd open to persquasion.
I expect they'll be some announcement after next week, after Sheffield have played their final game against Wigan which will determine thier league status.
Stu will have the dilemma of accepting another contract from Sheffield or us.
Personally I'll be surprised if he comes, but who knows the persquasion skills of JR !!, I remember we got George Mulhall to leave first division Bolton when he was assistant manager there and we were a fourth division club.

but what do you think would make him come to us - if they stay up or go down?
If they go down, Warnock may leave...leaving the way clear for Stu to take over....if they stay up. Warnock will stay on.....but Stu will be on Premiership AM wages......but still assistant.
Tricky one. Its hard enough for me to decide - let alone him the poor bloke! :)

I'm guilty of replying to my own posts here, however I've just had a scout around on Sheffields sites and here's the best info I could come up with on Sheffields stance on Stu...
Kevin McCabe, the club's major powerbroker, dropped a huge hint that the Sheffield United assistant manager will be handed a new deal.
In a move designed to end Bradford's hopes of appointing Stuart McCall as Colin Todd's permanent successor at Valley Parade, United's plc chairman also confirmed that Warnock's assistant has "an important role to play" in realising his dream of bringing European football to South Yorkshire for the first time since 1992.
With McCall set to become a free agent this summer speculation has been rife that McCabe and his board of directors are awaiting the outcome of United's relegation battle before committing themselves to fresh offers.
Bradford chairman Julian Rhodes issued a statement on Thursday saying that he hoped to unveil Todd's replacement "within the next three weeks" before revealing that his preferred candidate "has other priorities at the moment."
That was widely interpreted as being McCall but McCabe countered: "Everyone knows the situation regarding Neil and Stuart, that they are out of contract at the end of the season.
"That is when we will sit down and sort things out once and for all.
"We have done well as a club and we've moved forward so of course we want to ensure that continues."
McCabe added: "Stuart is very much considered to be a part of the future here.
"He is part of a management team which has served us well and so of course we want to keep that together."

Now then lets think.
Being in the Premiership is worth between £40 - £60 millions.
Being in the 4th Division we get a 'parachute' payment of £50k.
Only a mad man would decide to choose the club with £50k. All the poaching suggestions being put forward by Rhodes will only get Stuart a bigger wage at Sheffield.

Money won't be the deciding factor for McCall.
