Do England managers lack the bottle to drop big name players from big clubs like Lampard, Rooney etc.
Easy option to drop Phil Neville, Andy Johnson etc from Everton . Johnson worked harder and had a better attitude than Rooney on Saturday but it just seems that certain players are undroppable and this means they are in the cosy little comfort zone.tdwn:

Pretty much what I said in my post yesterday. You only had to look at McLosers substitutions on Saturday to see that he has no bottle to replace big players. In Euro 2004 Sven bottled taking Beckham off when he was playing dire where as Big Phil took Figo off in a move that won them the game, but should we expect anything else from a poor mans Sven.

The phrase "out of the frying pan and into the fire" springs to mind

It's something all England Managers have had to endure and something none of them have managed to deal with. You are damned if you do and damned if you don't.
There is a syndrome endemic within the England ranks that means certain players are untouchable and it would take one hell of a strong manager to drop them irrespective of the result. The same applied to Beckham and we all though McClaren actually had some bottle when he didn't include him in his first squad after the World Cup. That didn't last long....
Didn't Taylor drop Ince at some point which didn't help him and of course he took Lineker off when he shouldn't have. He was crucified for it.
McClaren like every other manager will fear that if he drops Lampard and/or Rooney as he should and it doesn't work immediately he will be absolutely hung out to dry not just by the press but also by the FA and the Prem Managers, let alone the fans.
Catch 22, you're not kidding.

Agree with all said above, players do seem to be untouchable and live on the back of there good club form.
There was one point in the Isreal game Lampard lost the ball going a just stopped running put his hands on his hips. If he had been in the blue of chelsea, he would not have done the same. Just makes you wonder what they are instructed to do on the field
Personally, I think McClaren is playing the same tactics of the swede and picks a team of players out of position like the turnip did:rolleyes:
For a team that has only scored 6 goals in 5 qualifying games 2-0 and 3-0gerrard both covered for me, nice price of 33/1 offered at the bookies on both
