Former Huddersfield manager Peter Jackson insists his replacement will inherit "a right group of players" and "a special needs club".
Jackson, 45, sacked earlier this week for his side's failure to challenge for promotion, hopes whoever the board install as his successor can steer them into League 2.
"Huddersfield are an awful club to work for," Jackson told PA Sport. "All the staff behind the scenes stink and the new manager will realise that from day one.
"It's a special needs club with a woeful group of players and hopefully someone can come in and take them on."
Jackson, who had two spells as Town's manager after being controversially sacked in May 1999, added: "I'll dust myself down and look to get back.
"I can look back with pride. I did my utmost for the club and in three-and-a-half years I can honestly say they were nearly all shite. Even after last time I'll never have a good word for the club. There have been plenty more downs than ups."
