So you've got your long lost relatives from aborad coming to Bradford to visit you and you want to take them out for a traditional Sunday roast dinner. Which eatery in the Bradford area serves the best roast, Yorkshire puddings trimmings etc. and does it in a style that makes you proud to be British?
Where would you take them?

No idea, B_i_N, I'd probably take them for a mucky madras instead! :D
The Beechers in Keighley, just don't park your car in the car park as someone had it crushed by a tree last week in the high winds :D

The Moorland, out in the wilds towards Halifax does pretty good roasts, the steak pie in there is also very ggod.

the crooked billett, no idea where it is (north yorkshire?) ask 1911. it does the best yorkshire puddings in the world if you're prepared to drive a bit.

The last time we had Sunday lunch out with visitors we took them to Dick Hudsons, High Eldwick - I had heard mixed reports but it was excellent.

The recommendations on here (apart from Booshies) are chain pubs which reheat stuff from the freezer shite....
Depends on how special the occasion is, but why not take em to an eatery which has a proper chef - maybe even michelin start or AA rosette, it won't be cheap but the food will be worth it!!....
The ONLY pub i'd recommend for Sunday dinner if you want a cheapy, cheerfully is one the Shippers stopped at a couple of years ago down the M1 on the way to Doncaster - its famous for its Sunday roasts its called "The Burghwallis" and is in the tiny village of Burghwallis - ask the Shippers members for their opinions, many have driven back down there on non matchdays to go for sommat to eat it was that good!!

Rick's recommendation of Beeches is top.
They always cook fresh and the meat and veg is of the best quality.

Why was it your car.
No it wasn't.
Someone who was staying there was bragging about his brand new motor and how he had spent x amount doing this and that to it, x amount of thousands doing that to it.
Can't understand why he wasn't bragging the next morning jump: :D

The Red Lion at Burnsall. Fantastic food (not the cheapest), a nice and cosy diners and residents only lounge for post dinner coffees / digestives and one of the most scenic bits of riverside in Yorkshire.

Mcdonalds, Bradford foster square.
Lovely food, nice surroundings, great company from all the honda boys skidding around, watch out for the chavs though!

Crooket Billet.
Past Garforth. Head towards Lotherton Hall and keep driving a couple of miles.
Absolutely massive yorkshire puds. They cut the top off them and then put in the fillings. Beef, Gammon, Pork, Chilli, Chicken, Curry, Turkey are some of the choices. Price is around £7-£8 but you will be full after eating it.
Check the opening times before you set off as it doesnt open all day.
I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Ah - id forgotton - a great place is the Queens at Apperley Bridge - two courses for £9.95 on a Sunday, a choice of either a starter and main, or main and desert.....great value to say its all home cooked, great food and proper chef!!...
During the week they're particularly renowned for their seafood - sommat that don't interest me much but might be worth trying for you seafood lovers!!!

There are good restaurants all over the world -- maybe not many can do a good Sunday roast with Yorkshire pud, but for me a must in UK is a good chip shop and the Yorkshire fish and chips are the tops -- all day trips out years ago finished up at Harry Ramsdens, but as it is now a big chain (there is even one in Hong Kong) I dont suppose they are the same anymore -- get me Fish, Chips and Mushy peas from a good Yorkshire chipys and I'm anybodies ;) ------- ohhhhhh I'm drooling now :)

Yes the Ring O'Bells in Thornton is on Hilltop Road. The meal I have had there was excellent and the service the same.
Dick Hudson's I have been plenty of times and never really been overwhelmed with it. It usually gets too busy to boot.

I can recommend The White Horse on Well Heads at Denholme Gate. Went the other week and it was spot on.
Not been for a while but The New Inn at Connonley is also worth a visit.

I'll second Gollis recommendation of the Ring'O'Bells at Thornton. The chefs win awards on a regular basis.
The 'roast dinner' at Chaplins in Haworth is also top notch.
Re: Beeches Carvery. While the self serve system means you can fill your boots and stack your plate sky high. Whenever I've visited I've always left feeling the food was rather tasteless and bland. Crackin' horseradish sauce though.

Healds Hall Hotel, Liversedge just outside Cleckers - not the cheapest sunday dinner but spot on for quality and.............feck the nut roast I'll go for fish with a yorkshire pud :-)

The Wooly Sheep in Skipton (High Street), or Black Horse In Skipton (same street just a bit further up).
Both do cracking Sunday dinners, but when the market is on, if you find a table make sure you don't move from it as both places fill very quickly.

The Muck Duck at Fizinghall do a crakcing carvery on a Sunday. It can get busy so it's worth booking if there are a few of you going.
