2 cracking pubs where we are - both serve excellent food and a good choice - reasonably priced and you can even buy me a pint :-)

yep, bit cliquey in the bar area but the foods great in the restaraunt.

I live within spitting distance of The Savile.

Wisey do you know Graham Whittaker who lives up Hunsworth Lane towards East Bierley on the left last house before the fields?

We were in the Savile for a drink a few weeks ago on a Sunday lunchtime and me and the Mrs were the only two people in. Then along comes a couple who had actually 'booked' a table. They must have thought it was busy as well!!
Been going in there for about 40 years and it is very slowly getting back to being a half decent pub but since Mary left I don't think I would bother with the food.

Aye Mary with her famous pie n peas, mucky pork sarnies and belly pork meals lol - she always used to play hell with anyone who left food on their plate :-)
To be fair I reckon the Savile has always served decent food, we've never had a bad meal in there - I reckon the Pub game is getting harder and harder with all the competition.

That name rings a bell Prawnie - was he one of your clients? :-)
