to the Three Singhs or Saffron restaurants, if so, which one do you recommend, bearing in mind that Mrs Meelin, who is paying, can't stand curry, and would be hoping to get an omlette or something similar.

I have the same problem as Sharron does not like anything hot(apart from me) and dont go for cuury at all. So she has had Scampi and chips on the rare accasions we have ventured into a "curry House"
They dont go this kind of simple food very well it seems according to her:rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
Surely even the Asians can fry some scampi and chips to good effect if they can produce some of the most tasteful and invigorating food money can buy.:confused:

My missus is the same... she swears they fry the scampi in the same oil as the samosas so won't go anymore.

The list of food my mrs doesn't like is unbelievable,and almost endless, if we go out for a meal it is generally english type dishes, if we go for pizza, she always has mushroom, no extra herbs, and she never eats the crusts, if we go for chinese, it's always chicken and cashew nuts, never has curry or spicy food of any type, but to be fair to her, if I want a curry or chilli when I get back from the game, she will make one from scratch, and have it ready for me when I get home.

Went to Three Singhs last night, was well impressed, the starter I had nearly blew my bollocks off, it was some kind of cheese tikka served on a sizzling plate,with onions and peppers, and some kind of paste that had the exposive quality, followed by king prawn karahi, the mrs, true to form, had spring rolls, an omlette with chips,followed by tiramisu ice-cream, and she was still up half the night with the galloping sheites!

Shame there wasn't more people in there last night though,Ipresume they make thier money at the week-ends?

I made some Tacos with mixed vegetables the other night...I sliced up a Quorn fillet and stir fryed the resulting mass of fine,healthy and meetfree vegetables....oops there I go again preaching:rolleyes:
Anyway I had to pick out the bits of Quorn to put in my Tacos,leaving Her with none as per Her express directive.
Anyone else would have got a slap.:D

Their curries are awesome (the deghi kebab curry is to die for as is the lamb passanda) the breads superb and the service impeccible (they beat one of gordon ramsey's restaurants in a front of house award) - its niceley decorated but unlike the themepark that is mumtaz (jeez i'm brave criticising that) it has style and substance and is much more affordable.

Haven't been to the three singhs, will have to try that out.

Oh yes, you can have the proper strong 8% King Cobra as well or for the light-weights the Cobra light. Zouk does fantastic food as well.

Just to update this I went to the 3 Singhs with the girlfriend and my little lad on Monday and it was really busy but only had to wait about 10 mins for a table. She went for Chicken Korma, I went for Chicken Tikka main and the food was lovely. Service was fast and they have got rid of the massive bar that was in the restaurant and replaced it with more tables. Decorated it a bit differently in the bottom part too.

It's buy 1 main course get 1 free all night now on Mondays, got a glass of wine, glass of lemonade, 2 glasses of coke, 2 fruit shoots, 2 main courses, extra rice and naan bread for about £25.

Was in Zouk last night, only complaint was it was very busy, as were all the big names on Leeds Road. Restaurants packed out on a Wednesday night - what credit crunch??


The Zouk is owned by the same bloke who run the Kebabish in Greengates (great guy BTW) and would recommend either.

Which one is best? I'm in Bradford over Xmas and fancied Zouk...but will be staying in Greengates, so a short walk up the hill to Kebabish wouldnt be so bad either. Really looking forward to a nice curry.......

My boss went to Kebabeesh last week as part of the Lord Mayors Appeal Curry Run & he said it was very good indeed , well worth the visit apart from the piano crooner who kept turning the volume up as no one was listening:rolleyes:

Tallin - both are good - but the ZOUK is open from breakfast serves breakfasts / good spicy meals and some great desserts/puddings. Peter the owner is a lovely guy as are is sons and staff. Service can slow down when busy like a lot of restaurants - but gives you time for another cobra! Both Keebabeesh and Zouk do a Christmas day menu - if you want something different from Turkey! Keebabeesh has a magician if you are taking kids!

While the Zouk & Kebabeesh are both great, they've a somewhat different personality - I guess otherwise theyd' have the same name.

Kebabeesh is more in the traditional mode. Personally I'd opt for the Keba, especially if I was close by..

Cheers for the info. Is Keba Indian though? The name implies that its more kebab/turkish orientated? There's no such thing as a curry over here, but every second restaurant is a georgian, ukranian kebab house. Looking at Zouks menu makes my mouth water - I'll have a look and see if Keba has a website.
And yeah, I do want something different from Turkey this Christmas, which is why me and the mrs are spending it in Cyprus! :)
