Situated on City Square where the old Post Office used to be this restaurant is in a prime location in Leeds. Although the name seems to suggest that this would be just another cheap eatery this is actually a nice restaurant.
Food
When I went it was Christmas so expected a limited menu due the busyness however you can check the full menu at http://www.individualrestaurants.co.uk/Menus/rbg_leeds.pdf, you will see that while not extensive like a restaurant such as Bibis it has more than sufficient choice. The food is good, as you now come to expect from a Leeds City Centre restaurant it's also simple and not overly pretentious, we are Yorkshire persons after all.
Service
Good and friendly service even when the restaurant is busiest.
Prices
You'll see from the menu that the prices are very reasonable considering this is Leeds, I think probably because this restaurant is part of a small chain but I think you'd struggle to find anything wrong with the price structure.
wine starts at £13.50 a bottle which again for Leeds prices isn't too bad I’d recommend the Merlot Mandrarossa at £17.25 a bottle.
Ambiance
As stated above it was Christmas when I went so the restaurant was full however because of the location and prices I believe that this restaurant will be a real success. Although quite a big restaurant the layout creates 3 or 4 mini restaurants within which creates a good and more personal atmosphere so it doesn't seem that you're eating in a school dining hall. my one problem here would be that the bar area is quite far away from the entrance and that dining tables are laid out more or less from the entrance to the bar which means that you have people walking past quite a lot which does detract from the experience.
Overall
A non pretentious great all round restaurant. I’d say that this restaurant is possibly for more regular restaurant eaters as opposed to a special occasion restaurant but well worth a try.
